maybe im misunderstanding (dont use live' recording much myself) but wouldnt setting the in and out markers 1 or 2 bars early / late give you a pseudo count-in space on each pass ???

slainte :? rob

the problem is that you need to hear the material on the track you're punching into all the way up to the punch...

Post

Guess we should just use punch mode for now then - as long us we aren't trying to overlay clips - as that doesn't seem to work - unless it's just me.

Punch does nothing for my cituation (mostly midi recording). I still have to move things. If I have a song of 24 bars, and I want to record on Bar 16, In T1 I would place the cursor on bar 15 press R and off I went. It was fast. I didnt have to keep turning loop on and off. (damn I'm lazy)

like rob said sounds ok to me, it's just one bar..! and to have a onebar break during looprecording is fine anyway ;) but after all you all are right, this shouldn't be needed.
i need a lunch break

This has been driving me crazy. All thats needed is a setting to 1) toggle lead-in on/off & 2) set the length of a lead in; then the punch-in tool would be far more effective. I think this is how it worked in Logic, and I now realize how much I miss that feature.

I'll put in a feature request...

@ad80 but that's just in loop mode, why not switching it off, if you want to do it that way ? it's just one keypress more. you can put the shortcuts side by side and than it's still one keypress

Uhh, Its actually two more keypresses becuase I then have to turn it on after recording again to continue listenting in a loop. I have to keep remember to hit "L" before or after I record, sometimes after editing I cant even remember if I pressed it or not, so I hit L and then it turns out I already had it turned on so I just turned it off again, so it turns into 4 keypresses instead of none compared to T1. :ud:

And what do we gain from it? Theres no new functionality as far as recording, except it helps out in the audio loop to have all the loops the same size. But as far as midi recording, it slows it down. Thats why I think it should be an option for the mostly midi folk.

ok, another way. instead of setting loop on during recordingsessions, set markerpoints to quickly go to the parts you're working on. it's also a workaround and i also would prefer a normal way. i think jules made it that way cause his philosophy is, what you see is what you get: loop recording, means loop recording and not record a loop after some time of not recording or don't record a loop allthough the loop is turned on (i bet for the same reson we will never see playlists that makes the playcursor jump around in the arrangement). and for the same reson solo works that way....

Geez, we've been through this before haven't we... I was asking about count-in on loop record ages ago... didn't he say it couldn't be done? :x

What the f**k are you talking about? I'm not asking for count-in on loop, I'm asking for the cursor to NOT jump to the beginning of the loop when I hit record in loop mode. I dont need count-in on loop if I can just put the cursor at the end and have it loop back to the beginning (Like T1!).

Well, putting the cursor exactly where you want it to start recording, then having it jump a mile backwards to the first marker is not exactly "what you see is what you get".

Now calm down... Are you saying count-in on loop mode, wouldn't solve the problem? ...And eliminate the workaround in the first place...

Yeah but its common knowledge that its impossible to do :D . So I just want it to work like T1 does. Its much faster for midi.
