I like 4front, best free one out there, also soundfonts.
Free ones
The Clavinova Grand Piano 2, I think is the best one on this site

call me silly but i like the sound of the 4front the most as well. I wish it was more tunable like the pieno plug in FL Studio, though.

i bought hans's artvista virtual grand and it really is great for the price.. all the other ones i have mpiano pmi old lady (free on cm mag coverdisk) 4front,sound fonts etc ,all sound a bit cheap and nasty now. its like having access to the sound of a steinway for your recordings, with different presets resembling different "artists recordings" - i dont know how close they are, cause i havent checked but it certainly gives you some variety to fit different mixes. It is a pleasure just for play/practicing too,if you have a half decent midi keyboard. I also, after playing this ,decided to buy hans's malmsjo piano instrument after hearing a demo of it, it sounds very beautiful for solo piano stuff. (and hey ,i'm really just a guitarist by trade) i highly recomend the virtual grand (i'm still waiting on arrival of the malmsjo, should be here early in the week i hope, in time for my birthday ) he has them both on a special offer as he mentioned ,till the 16th

there is no best, it's all a matter of personal taste.rivrock wrote:Hey Bluedad, how about a link to the best free piano VSTi...bluedad wrote:pardon me, I've just got torivrock wrote:I like 4front, best free one out there,
I'd rather use mda piano over 4front, but used to have the splendidgrand and liked it (but seemed to have misplaced it.)
still again, it's all personal. to come out and say one is best..well, no way.
