The MU.LAB 3.0.35 patch is available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/patch

What's changed:
  • Tuned: Composer + Sequence Editor: you can also zoom in on the timebar
  • Tuned: Finetuned target module list when choosing a target for a part, non relevant items are filtered out
  • Tuned: When choosing a target module for track or part, the MIDI channel is preserved
  • Tuned: Finetuned MU.LAB XT limits
  • Tuned: When changing a track from using a target module to using part target modules, the current track target is first pushed towards all parts on that track
  • Fixed: MU.LAB FREE MIDI in/out limit issue
  • + other little tunings

some add. thoughts to the topic "midi channel".

As far as I know, each midi event has its own channel information.
This means, the midi events in one single track can have different channels.
To cover also this situation (even though very unusual for multi track midi files, but might be relevant for older single track midi standards) ...
an add. mixed-channels mode could make sense.
--> Show (and change) channel information on a "per note/event" basis in note and list editor. And add a new mode (beside assigning a fix track or part channel), so you can choose "channel per note". Choosing a fix channel number should always work as channel-remapper, only when choosing an option "bake channel numbers" the track/part channel is copied in each single event.

Again: not too important, but this should complete the work with midi channels.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!

Just more twists and turns with M3 (3.0.35) all working well.

I used one instance of Machine Creator - a unique and interesting Windows VST plugin from Synthtronic. This plugin looks for midi input on 7 different midi channels. Each channel drives a sampler with individual sounds assigned to a range of keys. It is then possible to send automation by channel using a unique M3 track. This example uses only 4 bars looped. Although I added some tempo changes to the arrangement.

Here is a view of the arrangement.

Also you can listen to the mixdown - Sump Trouble MP3

This topic is on the m4 dreamlist. But that's for around q3.

I've found a bug with the mixdown function on my PC. If I do a mixdown with any audio monitoring on, the result has a nasty tone all the way through.

Fixed in the next version.

No. Why do you think?

I ran a few tests on 2.7 vs. 3.0 - I found that the CPU utilization is almost identical for both versions. There are a few MuSynth presets that can eat lots of CPU.

So...I take it that the mouse toolbox is gone for good? Pity. :(

I have to say I strongly dislike double-clicking for drawing notes. Horribly slow.

So, is Ctrl+click is the only way to bring up the pencil tool in the sequence editor? Am I missing something somewhere? :help:

I took a look around to see if there was a way to bring it up 'for good' until otherwise changed. No dice.
I poked about in the shortcut editor to see if I could make it myself (to at least bring back the clicking on the mouse wheel to change to the pencil tool)...no joy.

MachFront, some questions:

1) If you would have a 'fixed' pencil cursor, then how to select parts/notes?

2) I understand that when you want to draw a lot of notes, the double-click may be a bit heavy, but is holding [Ctrl] to draw a bunch of note too heavy?

Errmm...I know you're probably asking something quite simple, but I don't follow.

Honestly, not really. Admittedly, it's a preference thing. More a tiny annoyance than anything.
I love using the mouse and only the mouse when I can. If anything keeps my hand(s) off the keyboard, then it's preferable to me. I understand I'm likely the only person in existence that may feel that way.

The reason I liked the toolbox or the toggle with the mouse-wheel click, is because the pencil or arrow (or eraser, back when it was in the toolbox) were "always on" if you know what I mean.

Having said all of that, I completely understand that it's impossible to build something in a way that will please everyone and nigh impossible to please even the majority. :)
