MultiCore is a hassle. It works, but it does not scale nicely. 8 cores just so double the number of voices. We need to invest considerably more time in it, and possibly rewrite large parts of the core engine.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Is multicore support being up and running the next roadblock to cross before you'll release the next public beta? Any progress at all on that front?
I'll try that after 1.0, and then maybe add it to a subsequent .x release.
Once that is done we can think about Arps and Sequencers as these may heavily depend on the voice scheduling algorithm.

Regarding GPUs, Clemens has done some promising experiments in his spare time. We might be able to add this in future, but like MultiCore support, it isn't anything that's quickly implemented, nor a be all end all solution.

If u-he goes for it, please don't forget ATI Stream tech...4damind wrote:There is CUDA for Nvidia GPUs. No idea if this could be used for a synth?

If we go for it then we probably go OpenCL to stay cross platform.Breeze wrote:If u-he goes for it, please don't forget ATI Stream tech...4damind wrote:There is CUDA for Nvidia GPUs. No idea if this could be used for a synth?

ya it's kind of crazy.. i enjoy having it, but at the same time it is worth too much for the way that i use it.. i love just jamming on it, but of course if i want to record then it has to warm up and get tuned for each session..ryandfl wrote:Getting off topic, but the FR-777 is awesome! Isn't it there?Echoes in the Attic wrote:Hey Urs, any chance of the ring mod getting into the Eco Osc from the MS-20 Osc?
(it still lacks a switch to use Osc1 square wave or whatever other wave is chosen in Osc1 - the original MS-20 hardware always uses Osc1 square, while the Korg software versions use whatever waveform is selected)
