Astral: I think you maybe be looking too far down the road and over to the side. We aren't trying to give kids in Africa a license to Cubase... of course that would be useless to them when they need fresh water, education, and an (at least semi-)orderly government. Please stay on topic. And, no, you were not on topic. :hihi:

Back to OP:

Perhaps another route would be to donate music instructional related books and media... theory.. production.. synthesis.. etc

There are quite a few fantastic books over on Amazon
video streaming/dvd lessons and guides on groove3.com and dancemusicproduction.com
etc

of course they are in English language mostly.. if not entirely.. so that might be an issue. However, if they are posting here in English then surely they know enough to follow along in the English language.

It is one thing to have tools, it is another to know how to use them effectively.

I don't think software is all that expensive really, especially considering what all it can do, and compared to the hardware route.

If these people that are stealing it really wanted to obtain it legally I'm sure they could if they worked hard and saved there money for it.

I'm not gonna donate any money so some able bodied person can obtain something they don't want to work to get for themselves.

Maybe these people should manage their money a little better, cancel their smartphones, and not have ridiculous car payments or whatever.

I mean how much is Fruity Loops like $100? If somebody can't legally obtain that then they aren't trying very hard.

software is VERY expensive. i get 678 a month that it. with tha, i have 100 dollars left for my hobby, then subtract 20 or so for my 'one' time a month dinner and a movie with my only friend, and that leaves 80 usd a month for new software. consider the fact that a good powerful synth runs around 150-200 usd and fx (which are FAR more' then even vstis. and you can understand how software might be very pricy.

btw, i dont own a cellphone, dont have a car, and not everybody can work either which is why theirs government program for just this reason. your view is a bit one sided.

it's best to ignore such posts so we don't flood the thread. we're going to have bigots and ignorance and people who believe community is a bad thing.

that's the reason we don't have communities and we don't support these people. responding to it only lends credibility to those points of view.

let's just focus on the important things and totally ignore those comments. the only way to convince them is i believe to show them the benefits and make them feel guilty when they see what is really possible, which is the way they're supposed to feel for having those opinions and what motivates us to do good. guilt is a very strong motivator and it represents the good in all of us trying to come out.

(guilt == pity and so on as well. i'm trying to refer to all of these emotions related to charity.)

I agree 100% that it's disgusting, but linking to a sale of cracked software can only help the seller so I messed up the url.

Anyone interested: It was some loser selling vast amounts of pirated goods to whatever suckers come along, the kind of stuff that's all too common.

Well, the thing that was relevant to this discussion, is that he says all sales go to help a homeless family he knows. So in his way, he's running a charity...

ok, im not being rude or sarcastic..you have 80 left each month, spare money, yes? why not save it for a few months? hobbies are a luxury, not a necessity, sometimes you have to make small sacrifices to pay for your luxuries, no?
