Hey Jules,

I've been there the whole week ....but didn't find the Mackie booth..... :? :( Ben said he has seen you, but I have not - and I would've like to say "thank you" and maybe even "hi" :D

cheers,
mully

Yes, tracktion uses a -6db centre pan law, which I thought was a good basic pan type. I'd like to add more options one day.

And Jens, if panning something makes it louder than you want it to be, it's a lot quicker to just dip the volume slightly than to come on KVR and mouth off about my software being unprofessional. Sort out your attitude if you expect any help on these things.

1. I never wrote that your software is 'unprofessional'! - if I did why should I bother
to compare it with other 'pro'-software?

2. It's nice to see YOUR attitude towards your
customers who have serious reasons to complain.

"raising the gain while panning is complete and utter amateur bollocks!"
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

yes, which translates into:

"This certain feature of Tracktion is handled in an
amateur-like style" - it's not the same as calling
the whole application being 'unprofessional' as you
have to admit.

Hope you get well soon Jules. Hope your flu is not stress related. Don't let your work affect your health. I know its your 'baby'. But remember, a happy father, means a happy baby :-)

oh come on... we all know that jens loves tracktion as much as everybody else.... he just found something which isn't implemented in the best possible way

he just wants Tracktion to be even better... 8)

maybe his tone was a bit ...well over the top... but don't take it too personal (I'm sure it was never ment this way)

let's eat some kittens ...eerrr? well no let's not

MAY I VOTE FOR MORE LOVE, TOO
cheers,

thanks, Alex :) - yes, I probably have been a bit over the top, but it is soooo frustrating - I have
experienced so many problems with Tracktion during the last weeks - I have lost a lot of time and work...

- but I am only repeating myself - Tracktion IS
the future that's for sure - but I need it to WORK
NOW - I couldn't care less for Jules' success -
I guess he doesn't care about mine - what I want
is a product that does what it pretends to do -

Who cares for revolution tommorow if he needs
to eat today?

Mackie are allready talking about selling v2
while v1 still has so many quirks

I really wished I could recommend Tracktion
to everyone at the moment but I'd be a liar.
What shall I tell my friends when they e.g. ask me why rendering a three minute song takes nearly ten minutes?

I have to admit you are right, my last experiences w/ Tracktion have been disastrous! Overload even with ancient projects (i.e. previously working) with vers 1.5.3, disappearing edits (though this might be coming from scandisk?), and lots of minor hitches with MIDI.

I do love the software, but as a 6 or so months user, the last updates chilled me. Now I'm waiting for the next release.

And I agree the panning law is a bit of a troublemaker, but it's really quickly sorted.

Well I personally dont even consider using tracktion for mixing down and audio recording. I'm sure it is fitting for some, but I prefer using my bought copy of Adobe Audition. It's specifically made for mixing down, recording audio, etc... I use tracktion for sequencing, which is so simple and a marvel. I was in a musical rut due to my software and I didn't even know it. In one night I wrote and produced a song. Stop bad talking this stuff. If you're concerned in panning properly, get a program thats made for mixing/mastering

I couldn't be bothered to use two different applications for these tasks you mentioned. Recording and sequnecing go hand in hand for me, mixing as well. Never even in my worst mightmares I'd consider to use different applications for it in the same song. :P

then perhaps you should migrate to something else that won't make you upset the programmer.
