Excellent choices btw. They are NOT expensive cables when you consider what some of us are saying about "performance". There is a reason top musicians use them instead of bin cables ;)

@making your own: I think there is a cost up front for the materials to do this right, but it's QUITE the viable option. You can probably keep the cost down and pretty much assure yourself of "best possible quality" :)

I read two sentences and feel I need a shower. Big difference between a guy with an axe to grind and reasonable information. Sorry yairhol, just how I feel about it.
You're entitled to whatever you want to feel or believe in.
Science on the other hand is immuned against beliefs.

Uh oh, houston, we have a problem

Under no circumstances is science to be ignored. BUT this guy has an axe to grind. If the information is presented in a logical fashion, more power to you. BUT if you start using all the "over the top" words to try and make your point......it's not science anymore, is it?

There is a very long boring video floating around on this that is pretty good. It's NOT some guy who had too many energy drinks though :)

Please elaborate which "over the top words"?

We wouldn't dream of declaring that component A sounds better than B without having performed carefully controlled double-blind listening tests side by side, at levels matched within ±0.1 dB. We consider casual, sequential, "freeform" listening evaluations to be of very limited value.
Furthermore, we not only measure the component under review in a very completely equipped audio laboratory but also bring you, when relevant, a detailed design critique by a graduate engineer. We are accountable for our findings and judgments: we can prove them.

Fair enough, I'll start where I started.........
But it is the
hugest, dirtiest, most cynical, most intelligence-
insulting and, above all, most
fraudulently profitable lie in audio, and
therefore must go to the head of the list.

I stopped right there. I don't care what he has to say. It sounds unintelligent, axe-grinding and sensationalist.

Sorry. I don't like it. I'm interested in any possible facts that can be supplied but this sounds like a guys who had too many espressos.

Post

So basically you agree with the point that he has to say but you just don't like his writing style? Because as stated above and elsewhere, his words are backed up by double blind tests and they are facts, which you said you are interested in.

Maybe you'd want to read this:

especially the article on page 51 with its conclusions on page 56-57.
Again, all facts and by the same author as before.
Maybe his writing style here will be more to your liking.

I find it offensive frankly  There is nothing about cable quality that could possibly be any of the things in that quote. I'll read the other thing you posted tomorrow but the idea that someone could be so passionately down on cables is ridiculous. I think the comments I've made here are pretty reasonable and have merit. I look at that statement and I think "here we go again, black/white/no grey" sorry.

Post

So we're at the stage of

Statement A : X is intrinsically better than Y
Statement B : Its a lie that X is instrinsically better than Y

Response : "Statement B offends me. Its not black and white."

Hmmm. Funnily enough, though, its not quite as offensive, or hypocritical, as 'Im part of the elite sensible group who know the truth and everyone else is just looking for a fight'

Never say m0nster in a thread about anything. The cable guys will hunt you down and sue you.

I can't argue about feelings. If you feel offended by facts then I can't do anything about it.

cables make a difference. the real question is in the particular case you use them, does that difference actually matter.

personally i just use rusty fence wire and clothes hangers wrapped in old socks, work just as well in the majority of cases.

Funny dream. I was given a ticket for buying cheaper cables :hihi: It was so f**king real I thought I had a court date when I woke up :o

When I started gigging as a guitarist, I bought myself an expensive "quality" guitar lead. It's one of those oxygen free Whirlwind's. 25 years later and I'm still using the same lead ... quality tends to last.
