Using the Deepflight Kontakt library makes me wish i would have a D-50 again. As it's not really expensive it could happen sometimes maybe.

That's the perfect synth for Roland to resurrect in VSTI form. Korg set an example with Legacy Digital.

This plus a perfect emulation of the Jupiter 8 and i would be in heaven... :)

Anyway the quality of the Deepflight Kontakt library is great and it contains several of the "famous" sounds too. It's made for Kontakt 3.5 so no real scripting used.

Just had a look at the factory sounds i tried to reprogram with Arturia Jupiter 8V again. Had a look at the "Echo Piano" patch which seems to be difficult to recreate with others synths (both Peter and Lotuzia seemed to find that problem). Like mentioned in the patch sheet the "Echo" effect is done by modulation of the pitch of VCO 2 with the envelope (envelope 1). I had problems to get a similar sound with a few other synths, will maybe try again soon.

Besides this i have done a few variations and also continue doing some patches from scratch (will also continue with BassLine-101 of course...). There are some interesting results with using Crossmodulation and/or the envelope modulation of the pitch.

I'l try to publish all those patches (factory sound recreations + new patches) as a free download when i think they are ready.

I also decided that i'll not waste too much time with matching the factory sounds (or better the audio demos found at e.g. Synthmania) 100% exactly. I'll try to keep them if they sound good enough in my own opinion.

Ingonator wrote:Hi,

i started doing some tracks/demos that only use Roland synth emulations and also Roland FXs were possible.

The first track of that kind is based on TAL BassLine-101, Xils Lab V+, Arturia Jupiter 8V 2.5 and Pink Noise Studio Deeplight for Kontakt (length 9:45, Lead sound starts at around 1:50):

Journey To The Land Of Ro - Part I

The track is recorded "Live" which means no overdub and also no further editing afterwards.
I re-rendered this track using 5 instances with patches that i created with Arturia Jupiter 8V 2.5 (length 9:45, Lead starts at 1:50):

Journey To The Land Of Ro - Part I (Jupiter 8V only)

The track is recorded "Live" which means no overdub and also no further editing afterwards.
The patches are not included with the original Jupiter 8 factory sounds while one is a variation.

External FXs used are: Arts Acoustic Big Rock Phase Shifter (used for Synth Strings), ValhallaVintageVerb Reverb, TAL Chorus-LX, TAL-Dub-3 Delay (used for Lead sound).
The Choir sound uses the built-in Chorus of the synth.

besides enjoying some amazing Roland emulations like .e.g. TAL BassLine-101, Arturia Jupiter 8V and Xils V+ i am currently blown away love with the Deeflight D-50 Kontakt library.
Many amazing D-50 sounds including some really "famous" ones which show how great that synth was and still is. Anothr one i wish i have not sold but to get this back is much simpler (and much cheaper) than a Jupiter 8 i guess.

The Deepflight library also allows some limited editing of the patches (e.g. filter, 2 envelopes) and adding some FXs make them even more interesting.
Many of those Kontakt patches also use aftertouch for vibrato which is one thing i really like and appreciate.

Sadly this does only include a part of the original factory sounds. A complete collection would be awesome.

A new sample based TR-808 emulations is released:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387514

http://translate.google.co.jp/translate ... l%20%5D%20

There seems to be a free version with lower quality and a few other missing features. Will try to check that soon.

Added to the list at the OP too.

A new Reaktor ensemble based on the JP-8000 Supersaw seems to be available:

http://alex-shore.com/jp-4c/

The features do look quite similar to those in Adam Szabo'S JP6K. Like JP6K it seems to miss some features of the real thing.

Opposing to JP6K this Reaktor ensemble could be also used on a Mac.

UPDATE:
This offers the opportunity to use a Supersaw in your own or existing Reaktor ensembles.

The developer himself started posting here:

Highly underrated, absolutely kickass VSTi...just add reverb and chorus when necessary. Just spoke to the dev a month ago about how quiet Manx were of late - bloke replied saying that whilst support for their VSTi's will remain, no new products will be out. Pity - they had some seriously beautiful synth emus.

Isn't Manx using SE?

Yes. On my first try with this it does not really sound better than Jupiter 8V to me. Maybe i'm too stupid but does not really sound like a Jupiter at all to me.

Tried to do a Brass sound but got nothing close to the typical Jupiter 8 sounds.

I also found as soon as i use a higher filter keytrack amount than around 10% the control of the Cutoff does not longer seem to work. There always seems to be full Cutoff then.

Can't believe this thread's been around for a year and this is the first time I've seen it. Thanks for this, Ingo and company.

Just for fun I was just trying one of those Manx synths mentioned in the News section. On their website I noticed that there is also a SE synth called Super-Jay, which seems to be a Jupiter emulation. I have downloaded it, sounds pretty decent I think. I never played a real one so I can't really compare, but still, maybe worth adding to your list :)

Oops, sorry, didn't see it was already mentioned, though not on the list I was checking...

I find the other Manx synth I tried sounds slightly better, but the user interface and operation really suck :P

Juno-60:
- TAL U-NO-LX (5/5)
- TAL U-NO-62 (3/5)
- U-He Diva (4/5)

...

SH-101:
- TAL BassLine-101 (5/5)
- D16 Lush-101 (4/5)
- TAL BassLine (freeware) (3/5)

...

Juno Chorus:
- TAL Chorus-LX (5/5)

TAL U-NO-62 (freeware) is not supported anymore (so it will be soon discontinued).

The same for TAL BassLine (freeware).

Will TAL Chorus-LX (freeware) will for much longer? Hum...

In the freeware world, even the best things die... Snif.

Thank God, the other VST's made by TAL are not really expensive.

I'd like to get some impressions about LuSH-101 that I look as a possible future purchase. It has just been quickly cited without deeper impressions or comments.

Have some of you bought it?... and could give us personal reviews about it reliability? And for this VST may we use "accurate emulation"? "close emulation"? "rather well inspired"?

With kind and interesting arguments of course...
