Long story short, I like studio one's "open air" best of all my verbs, but I use live 99% of the time

So, I got to looking at the Hofa IQ verb and I'm like.......man, that's a lot of money. I better make SURE I get what I'm after. So, though it's a broad question I thought it best to just start the thread, get peoples current takes, then do some demos, etc. Yeah, I'm leaning towards a convo, but I want to kinda see what the take is currently. That includes verbs I own/have owned. I still want to hear what you like.

Has to be x64, has to work with live, has to be windows, has to be either zero latency/or compensated by live, for studio one I'll use "open air". Oh and yes I am ilok "curious" so feel free to mention ilok'ed verbs!

Well best value for money is to buy ValhallaRoom and ValhallaVintageVerb at $100 for both. They seem to have a lot to offer for the money and have loads more character than Abletons 'verb.

Next up IMO would be Acon Digital Verberate for $100. The audio demos I've heard from this are very realistic.

Are there high quality zero latency convolution reverbs? I don't think Live even compensates latency for the Convolution Reverb they include with Suite.

I like the non-convolution reverbs by Valhalla and Exponential Audio the best. OK, I still love the Lexicom PCM series, but I'm trying not to.

If you mean the maxforlive reverb, then no. I remember someone saying that almost all of the M4L stuff is affected by PDC.

I DO NOT like the M4L convo verb. I hate using it. It's not that it sounds bad, it's that it's a PITA.

@valhalla: The boy knows how to cook, doesn't he? However, in EXHAUSTIVE comparisons, I found I personally like my RC 24/48's for algo. HOWEVER, since I'm ilok "curious" I thought I'd save an open space for stuff like "TSAR"

Remember guys, I wouldn't even be asking if "open air" was a vst that I could use with live

@zero latency convo: Reverberate does this, and I have it. But frankly that and "reflektor" don't really sound right to me anymore. Compared to "open air" they are flat and unlively (sorry reverberate guy, you're such a great dev!)

Another thing you could do is pick up 32lives and get the lexicon stuff.

The hofa is gorgeous! Rich, lush, dynamic. Well, that's one of the 14 days for the demo

My personal favorite is still 112db redline reverb, after that I'd go with anything from Valhalla.

Exponential Audio reverbs, or Lexicon.

I dont use Live and nowdays only seldom use convol reverbs so take this with a pinch of salt. But for those who crave the Lexiconish sound, EA reverbs are superb/ Just demo them and see by yourself if they fit your likes.

VORT3X meant another one, not Reverberate, but Verberate, which is algorithmic.

Im a mixed bag

Love the lexicons and softube tsar (but not everyones taste the latter).

Aether/B2 are also in there purely for the reverb effects, these are very powerful but certainly not low latency.

Valhallas are a no brainer, well worth the demo and still a goto when I need simplicity.
