Put your hands on it and you are the leader of the market. ;)
So, what you basically mean is that at the moment, Steinberg IS the leader of the market.
How dumb of me not to have realized...

"Pretty" perhaps, although not nearly as unscientific as yours :)

At least he has some credibility. I can back up his statement, of the six or seven distributors I've been in contact with to the degree that I've been made aware of sales figures, the split is often slightly in favor of OSX.

For commercial audio software, discounting the OSX market is absolutely foolish. You're better off discounting the Windows market!

Now if you want some really unscientific "evidence", consider the fact OSX users most likely have more money to spend. Why? Well, they own Apple hardware for one thing, which is easily twice the price of other comparable hardware.

Yeah, you might argue "but they've already spent more money, so they'll clearly have less". Ah, but they didn't really care about spending more money, so clearly they have more.

Free plug-ins for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Xhip Synthesizer v8.0 and Xhip Effects Bundle v6.7.
The coder's credo: We believe our work is neither clever nor difficult; it is done because we thought it would be easy.
Work less; get more done.

So, Camel Audio could never NEVER have any NEW customers ever, is your point.

I didn't bought Alchemy, even though I tried it before. And NO, that absolutely doesn't mean I was never gonna... Such flawed reasoning never ceases to amaze me. You ever heard about potential buyers waiting for an upgrade before buying? Ask Spectrasonics if they're ONLY gonna sell Omnisphere2 upgrades to existing Omnisphere owners!!

C'mon guys, don't you actually THINK anymore before posting these? :help:

That would never happen because the monpoly laws would prevent it.

That's an interesting fact Sean. It only begs the question: why Apple users are less (and/or PC users are more) interested to come here?

The poll only allows up to 30 options. I would have added more companies if it was possible. You can, however, select the "Other" option.
Chapelle, seriously? SERIOUSLY?

You're wasting your breath. For a lot of people it essentially comes down to "boo hoo, sucks to be you" and they just don't care. I was waiting until I had some extra cash to finally purchase. Too late. The announcement came and I was screwed.

But no, according to some people I've lost nothing because you can't lose what you never had.

So I guess if I had never married my wife, no big deal there either, right? I mean can't miss what you never had.

Yeah, the logic of some people totally amazes me and they absolutely should think about what they post before they post it.

Try READing my post. I didn't say "never". I said "weren't likely". Of course Camel have lost potential sales.

It never ceases to amaze me how outraged people can be that that they've now lost something they never had.

There's one product less on the market that you can buy. Go buy something else then... :shrugs:

I care (kind of) but there is nothing *anyone* can do about it, so what's the point in constantly ranting "boo hoo, I didn't buy something when I had the chance and couldn't see into the future"..?

Newsflash: You are not "screwed" because you can no longer buy something. No one has "screwed" you, taken away anything that was yours or even inconvenienced you in any meaningful way.

The sky is still right up there.

Well, arguably PC users lost the possibility and hope of ever using Alchemy (let alone Alchemy 2 -- then again, that one might well be lost for everybody now), and that's something.
(cf. wagtunes' post above)

Sth replacing Alchemy? As soon as you name it, I go buy it man! ;)

Pretty sure Alchemy 2 will never appear, but again, it's something only a small handful of people ever saw anyway.

And all the existing installations of Alchemy are working just fine. No one can buy it anymore, that's all, regardless of platform, and there won't be any improvements (bit of a shame, there were some small things in Alchemy 1 I'd love to see addressed) but it will remain a useful tool in the future, just like other legacy software that people use.

As for what of the Camel tech comes into Logic in the future - no one knows so we'd be back to random Apple speculation again...

I have a ready-made answer to that:
I'm FRENCH! That's f***kin' what we DO! We rant. All DAY! We complain!!! Doesn't matter it's useless, we're never happy, NEVER satisfied, and we'd like the whole world to know about it!!!! :x

(Never useless BTW: guess why France's got the best social coverage in the world? CENTURIES of people complaining and going on strikes all the time... The problem here is nobody seems to know just WHEN to stop whining! :hihi: I just follow a tradition :P)
