Not really. For what?MaxSynths wrote:It's not impossible for a company like Apple to consider to buy Steinberg and their licenses/patents. This makes sense in terms of money.
The VST format? Apple has it's own AU format, which is the definitive standard audio plugin format on the Mac platform. The DAW? Apple already has a pretty good one. The plugins? Again, Apple already has them. Other products, like Wavelab? Apple had wave editors and other things, they don't want them, and killed them all off.
The only thing useful to Apple is the talent, and even then, the developers are more in the PC camp than the Mac camp, so I'm not even sure they'd be a target for Apple.
As it happens, when Apple were shopping for a DAW company, as I understand, they did look at all the options, and iirc the front runners were Motu for DP (Mac only) and emagic (Mac first) and they decided emagic were the best fit for their strategy.

The only useful thing for Apple, just like for any company (see Camel Audio, lol), is money, and the VST format is a big slice of the audio software pie. AU format it's just a proprietary format limited to Apple computers. Apple DAWs? You mean Garage Band? Now, I don't want this to became a PC vs. Apple thread, but the big moneys are on the PC market. If I were Apple I would try to buy Steinberg tomorrow in the morning.
BTW, Steinberg is the only reply to the poll that makes sense IMO, and I explained why.

Um... you understand, that Apple's pro apps are not about making money right? They are about adding value for the brand, and selling more Macs, and showing people that Apple is at the forefront of cool creative people in the film and music industry?MaxSynths wrote:The only useful thing for Apple, just like for any company (see Camel Audio, lol), is money,
Apple don't operate like other companies, where each department is run separately and needs to make a profit, and they don't have the difficult of having their DAW be their main product, unlike say Steinberg or Motu.
As it happens, I'm led to believe the pro apps *are* profitable, but they don't exist to only make a profit for Apple.
Apple's bigger problem is getting enough talent, and they often have to do it through buyouts.
Not on the Mac platform, it's almost redundant (apart from Cubase Mac users). And for Apple, the *whole audio industry* not just *audio software* is a tiny drop in the ocean. They could care less what happens over on the PC DAW side.MaxSynths wrote:and the VST format is a big slice of the audio software pie.
No, Logic (although GB is obviously a part of the strategy).MaxSynths wrote:Apple DAWs? You mean Garage Band?
Lol @ "big money". There is no *big money* in the audio software market (both Mac *and* PC combined) - it's a tiny tiny niche, and rampant with piracy as it is.MaxSynths wrote:Now, I don't want this to became a PC vs. Apple thread, but the big moneys are on the PC market. Free plug-ins for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Xhip Synthesizer v8.0 and Xhip Effects Bundle v6.7.

Work less; get more done.

As far as NI, they are in their own league. Apple is just king. it was interesting that Eric Schmidt from Google decided out of all places to visit NI HQ instead of other places in Germany. That article is online. Mate Galic will eventually takeover for Haver from what I understand. Haver will be more in the background. Galic, Haver, and stefan schmitt are shareholders. Mate Galic NI's President mentioned in an interview "it's not about being bought. If we wanted to be bought, we would have been bought by now". The question was about being bought by another company like apple or something.
Also, Daniel Haver in an interview last year mentioned that with them growing their is a consolidation process. So IMO that means focusing on what is making them money. In the komplete range I think it's effects, Kontakt, Reaktor, and something else. Traktor is their money maker, and plus I own alot of their gear as I DJ lol. Not sure if apple is interested in the DJ market. As I think Traktor is one and maschine is 2.
I think you guys should put away your money because a new maschine, new interfaces, and more this year. I think komplete 11 ultimate is going to be huge. Especially after taking their three surveys lol.

If Camel's user base was so heavily tilted in favour of PC users, how come they have (allegedly) sold to Apple?
Let's see, mmmh...
How about: "Because Apple offered them more money than they could ever hope to make from their PC users in a lifetime?"
DUH?!!!
Next question (smart one if possible this time, plz)

Here's another one (for your sole enjoyment):"Congratulations on you never having had to face a dumb question in your entire life to this day!"
EDIT: Oh, wait! I didn't realize YOU were the source of that question!!
