Spectrasonics say so. All the new variations on old features (like the new granular engine) have legacy modes for compatibility with old patches (as I understand it)Caine123 wrote:i forgot, is omni2 FULLY compatible to 1? without any soundchanges?
Omnisphere 2 is here! (yes, it's really here!)

My Sweetwater rep told me it's a boxed product containing only a serial (no media at all). Not ideal, and a bit of a waste. However it was less expensive than the quoted upgrade price which is why I went with it and I knew SW would ship it fast.aMUSEd wrote:OK but it says on the Sweetwater and JJRshop sites that it is boxed. Not sure why it would be though.

The site says "available for download April 30th". That solves the download question.

You know what would have been a GREAT "VIP" privilege? Download the update 24 hrs before everybody else. Honestly the $12 VIP savings isn't making me feel important at all. lol

12? Where did you see that? I thought the VIP upgrade price was $199, vs the regular upgrade price of $249. That's a $50 discount.GMusic wrote:You know what would have been a GREAT "VIP" privilege? With discounts on webstores that sell the boxed Omnisphere 2 upgrade I believe you can get it down to $129, no taxes. With California taxes on the Spectrasonics site, I would be paying about $117. $12 difference.DocAtlas wrote:12? Where did you see that? I'll be paying $16.50 in tax for mine. I'd have saved if I'd bought it from Sweetwater at the non-VIP price. Oh well. Whatevah.GMusic wrote:You know what would have been a GREAT "VIP" privilege? Just got my delivery from Sweetwater!
What's interesting is mine does have discs, along with an advertisement for Omnisphere 2 inside the box and as a sticker on the outside.
I'm installing from the discs now!

I believe it's the Omnisphere 1 installation discs, but the benefit is that I'll only have to download the update to version 2, which I believe is what everyone will have to do?AstralExistence wrote: let us know if it works. if it does, i hate you as a person.
Unless I'm wrong and some people need to download 50+ gigs. Yikes.

I can assure you that you will be stoked with "merely" O1. You could wait a month to download the update and still be happy. I'm wondering if there are any disadvantages of buying a non-VIP version (e.g., from JRR Shop, Sweetwater) for those of us who qualify for the VIP upgrade from Spectrasonics. They have a history of giving away some really nice freebies to their VIP customers, so I would want to make sure that buying the O2 upgrade at a non-VIP price would still give me those VIP benefits in the future. I would assume that it wouldn't matter where you bought it or how much you paid, but it would suck to find out that Spectrasonics treats people who bought the VIP O2 upgrade differently than those who have the exact same products registered, but bought the regular O2 upgrade version.
