Spectrasonics say so. All the new variations on old features (like the new granular engine) have legacy modes for compatibility with old patches (as I understand it)

thx for the infos, i just got note from Spectra too that everything will be compatible that's what was important for them.
i just hoped some other companies would take that also so serious like Spectrasonics :)!

My Sweetwater rep told me it's a boxed product containing only a serial (no media at all). Not ideal, and a bit of a waste. However it was less expensive than the quoted upgrade price which is why I went with it and I knew SW would ship it fast.

The site says "available for download April 30th". That solves the download question. :tu:

You know what would have been a GREAT "VIP" privilege? Download the update 24 hrs before everybody else. Honestly the $12 VIP savings isn't making me feel important at all. lol

12? Where did you see that? I thought the VIP upgrade price was $199, vs the regular upgrade price of $249. That's a $50 discount.

With discounts on webstores that sell the boxed Omnisphere 2 upgrade I believe you can get it down to $129, no taxes. With California taxes on the Spectrasonics site, I would be paying about $117. $12 difference.

:hihi: :hihi: think u mean $219 compared to $229 from some place like jrr shop. so our big saving for owning all their products and with vip discount comes up to a wopping $12 . So if u have omnisphere and go to some place like jrr shop u can have ur upgrade for a wopping $229 and u only need to own one :hihi: :hihi:

but they still are going to get my $219 :hihi:

I'll be paying $16.50 in tax for mine. I'd have saved if I'd bought it from Sweetwater at the non-VIP price. Oh well. Whatevah.

Just got my delivery from Sweetwater!

What's interesting is mine does have discs, along with an advertisement for Omnisphere 2 inside the box and as a sticker on the outside.

I'm installing from the discs now! :D

I believe it's the Omnisphere 1 installation discs, but the benefit is that I'll only have to download the update to version 2, which I believe is what everyone will have to do?

Unless I'm wrong and some people need to download 50+ gigs. Yikes.

I can assure you that you will be stoked with "merely" O1. You could wait a month to download the update and still be happy. JMTC.

I'm wondering if there are any disadvantages of buying a non-VIP version (e.g., from JRR Shop, Sweetwater) for those of us who qualify for the VIP upgrade from Spectrasonics. They have a history of giving away some really nice freebies to their VIP customers, so I would want to make sure that buying the O2 upgrade at a non-VIP price would still give me those VIP benefits in the future. I would assume that it wouldn't matter where you bought it or how much you paid, but it would suck to find out that Spectrasonics treats people who bought the VIP O2 upgrade differently than those who have the exact same products registered, but bought the regular O2 upgrade version.
