If people had known this more would have bought the 6.5 update, not with every little addition it gets more expensive (even though these are not even supposedly 'paid' updates). At least put updates on sale in a fair way this time to make up for this (ie last time updates went on 'sale' the price of them went up first so it was no sale at all).
You have to follow their "logic". With every small 0.1 update the price increase for 6.4 owners. If you bought the update when it was from 6.4 to 6.5 it been 19€. Now from 6.4 to 6.6 it's 29€ (doesn't matter that from 6.5 to 6.6 is free). Makes sense?

About the new turn that 6.x (now even 6.5 users probably) will not get a free 7 update: For me that was clear right from the start. This dev had a serious problem. He should stop talking rubbish to his customers.
Absolutely mate... Well said, what a debacle this has turned out to be.
Some customers are 'more equal' than others...

I was the same... I've been using it for quite a few years now - it's a good synth. Then the dubious upgrades started to appear which offered very little value to the loyal customer. I'll never upgrade it again on principal.

And let us not forget the 'disappearing' installers. Another nice little bonus for us.

7 will be free for 6.x customers.

Ok guys, let's try to solve this.

From 6.x to 6.4 customers willing to get the latest and greatest. What would be fair for you? A reduced to get the license key and download? How much?

I can also look for latest 6.4 installer and make it available again for those who really need to download it from Members Area.

Ok 6.4 installers are already at Members Area.

Thankyou George - this is a good step forwards. Why not just put the update in the same sale as everything else for a while?

Poor George.. Nasty kvr -people always harrassing and teasing :hihi:

Okay 50% off for 6.6 updates and also 50% off for Discovery to Discovery Pro cross-grade this month.

The 6.4 installer availability is a good step.

What the latest and greatest version for the 9e fee?

I think thse solutions are wise and fair, and I hope that people take advantage of them, and twe can finally put an end to this unfortunate matter. I would really feel sorry for a demise of disco DSP

No please, George. I'm absolutely against any online activation.
If a strong copy protection would be needed, I by far would prefer a eLicenser (USB or not) protection, like do very well (and with a lot of success) Xils-Lab, Virsyn and others for example.

But I'm pretty sure that when a plugin is not so expensive (say less than $150), all is based on trust, with serial numbers or key files, and it doesn't prevent the wide success. See companies like Acon Digital, Ample Sound, AudioMulch, AudioRealism (Bass Line Pro), Audjoo (Helix), BigTick (Rhino), Cableguys (Curve), Cockos (Reaper), D16 Group (Phoscyon, LuSH-101), Dmitry Sches (Diversion), FabFilter (Twin 2), GForce (Oddity, impOSCar, Minimonsta), Image Line (Sytrus, Toxic III, DirectWave, Toxic Biohazard), KV331 Audio (SynthMaster), LinPlug (RMV Drum Addiction), MusicLab (RealGuitar), Mutools (Mulab and MUX Modular) Rayzoon (Jamstix), Reveal Sound (Spire), Synapse Audio (DUNE 2), Tone2 (Gladiator), Tan even U-He ! (Zebra, Diva, Bazille, Hive), Wusik (Wusik Station and Wusik EVE - Electronic Vintage Ensemble)...

When you see that all these famous products use only a serial number or a key file... in my humble opinion it would be counter-productive to change your current protection to an extremely worrying procedure using any Internet dialog. An eLicenser protection perhaps (and even that, I'm not hot at all) but with an internet procedure you would loose current customers instead of winning new ones. See KV331, U-He, Synapse... they would loose many users if they pass to a worrying protection. Challenge/Response is psychologically a break (and not only psychologically).

I'm now severely diseased since September 2018.
