I think it has been on permanent sale for the last year or so.

Uh... Eur85 you mean ;-)

But if you want price over quality then be my guest. The PRO II is much more than that. Each voice in the PRO II is actually a mono synth and gives the charactoristics of a true analog synth vs. digitally cloning the original. This give it a richnessess that most VST do not have.

If you're happy with the free and think it's the same then cool.

Yeah, I dunno about it being that much better, if at all, than obxd. I own OP-X Pro II myself and love it, it's a really nice synth, but there's a lot to love with obxd and it is definitely a fine option. OP-X Pro II for me is great partially because of the presets, they are pretty comprehensive and I can easily find something I'm looking for. But the UI is aging and some stuff like working with the arp are not as clear as it could be. Some of the controls are also painfully small in 2017.
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

The presets alone (2,500 I think) is worth it I me. I don't care about the UI as long as I can do what I need to do.

The free synth is fine for what it is, but does it have aftertouch a velocity on the filters? I'll have to check it out and see.

The PRO II has aftertouch and also velocity to filter envelope which is quite flexible since the filter envelope itself can modulate pitch, so you can control timbre via velocity in fm and x-mod patches etc

I bought it 5 years ago, on sale - that sale is still going...

If he bought OP-X Pro II, do he need to pay to get upgraded to the latest version of it ? :?

It got released in 2010, it would be amazing if users had to pay extra to get upgraded to the latest version of it that is v1.2.5 according to SonicProject website.

I figured... just checking ;-)

I can't remember seeing any plug where users have to pay to upgrade from v1.x to v1.x+1

Even if the plug went 64 bit and got MAC support in the meantime. Because that should already have been included in the original release back in 2010.
