I have played an Easel several times over the last couple of years. The V version sounds and behaves very very close.
Well I'm currently loving the Arturia version. If the original is better, it would be the holy grail of synthesizers to me. :hihi:
All I can say is the V version has a blanket over the sound in comparison, and as usual a very difficult to explain liveliness to everything. Playing the real thing was a fabulous experience.

Picked up the Minifilter for free either last December or Black Friday a few weeks earlier. I'm getting an offer of 249 Euros which does seem somewhat of a piss take if that's only 50 Euros less than people that actually shelled out for version 5 are charged for an upgrade.

Given that a) I'm not particularly interested in emulations and b) bought Thorn, Modular, Icarus and the Komplete crossgrade in the last month, not to mention the synths I already own, I think I'll pass. I'm good for synths at the moment ;)

Is there a list anywhere of what's new? Yes, broadly the 4 new synths, Analog Lab 3 and something about updated pianos, but any comprehensive list of all changes?

I agree with those that are saying that the Buchla is cool. I think that it is as well. I really want to play with it on my touchscreen laptop, it might just be the perfect synth for that format.
I only tested briefly but on my setup the keyboard isnt multitouch friendly

ie when tweaking sliders I couldnt play chords

Might be good with something like the Animoog keyboard on iPad (in multitouch midi mode)

Yeah I can live with that, I hate touch screen keyboards. I'd augment with my MPK Mini.

I've tried to use TouchOSC to act like the Easel keyboard, but so far I can't come up with the right combo. If you watch Barton play, he really uses the crap out of the keyboard on some patchs. So far, no luck with the V. But, I'll keep trying.

I just went to the site again, logged out and looked to see what V6 costs a first time buyer. It's on sale for $399. That comes out to $19 per instrument. So for 4 new instruments, that's less than $80. So let's call it $80.

As a V5 owner, the price is $199.

Nothing else needs to be said.

yes, i'm a little disappointed to...and i already paid a good amount to update to the previous version. not so fair for an Arturia customer (i own a Microbrute too) :scared:

Ach the price thing.... enough already. It's the same every time. You pay more to update on release - pretty sure it was exactly the same with V. Hang around and they'll sell it to you cheaper. There we go, that's the deal.

KVR....

Meanwhile, nobody know of a definitely list of what is actually new here? Last time I know they remodelled some filters as I recall, for example.

Ah thanks - nothing significant as far as I can see there from the synths, but I notice that Analog Lab 3 has made an appearance in my V Collection 5... is this a trial or do existing customers get the update too? Ditto the pianos (which I don't currently have installed)?

You get it with your V5 collection now as far as I know. IMO it's worth updating to. There are lot of little tweaks that make it better to use than AL2. But that's just my opinion. YMMV. I wasn't an AL2 fan. We nagged for bringing the chords back .. and got a .. yes we know smiley back. But, not for AL3 unfortunately.

+1 Too expensive to upgrade from V5. Will wait.
