Well, let's just leave it at that. :) Noone needs this discussion here, and noone will convince the other anyway.

That said, I'm enjoying this update so much. Inspiring.

So far i only used the single plugins of V-Collection but now i also installed Analog Lab 3.
For browsing patches of te whol collectiion this is indeed great and it also shows my own patches i created myself.

In Arturia Software Center i noticed that Analog Lab 3 also seems to be included with the license for V-Collection 4 which got available besides the VC 5 and VC6 licenses.

While browsing through the presets i found the patch "Art Of Voice" for CMI V which is replicates the choir/vox sound in "Moments in Love" by Art Of Noise.
So far i more tried to explore how everything works in CMI V than browsing through all presets.

As mentioend earlier the mod matrix in DX7 V is quite powerful as you got up to 24 mod matrix slots where each slot could use up to 8 destinations. This could craeate up to 24 x 8 = 192 modulations going on.

Here is a list of modulation sources in DX7 V:
- Operator 1 to 6 volume envelope (all envelopes in DX7 V could be switched between DX7, DADSR and MSEG mode)
- Pitch envelope
- Mod Envelope 1 + 2
- LFO 1 + 2
- Step sequencer
- Pitch Bend
- Modwheel
- Aftertouch
- Velocity
- Keyboard
- Expression
- Breath Controller
- Operator 1 to 6 Level scaling (DX7 mode and MSEG mode for the level scaling)
- Macro 1 to 4 (macros are the 4 "Data Entry" faders at the main GUI)

Modulation destinations in DX7 V are:
- Volume
- Transpose
- Tuning
- Arpeggiator Rate
- Feedback (feedback parameter for the current algorithm)
- Modulators Level
- Carriers Envelope Rate Multiplier
- Modulators Envelope Rate Multiplier
- Operators 1 to 6:
Pitch, Level, Pan, Feedback, Envelope Rate Multiplier, DX7 mode envelope parameters (8 parameters), DADSR mode envelope parameters (5 parameters), Filter Cutoff, Filter Resonance
- LFO1 and LFO2: Speed, Delay, Amplitude
- Step Sequencer: Step count, Step length (Full Range), Step length (No Triplets)
- FX1 to FX4: Dry/Wet amount

Kudos to Arturia who continue to impresss with solid releases and updates. I was very pleased that the gui updates were applied to V Collection 5 as a no cost upgrade.

The remining 4 synths looks very interesting so sooner or later Arturia will have my upgrade money. And one day a Matrix Brute will keep company with my Mini Brute and Drum Brute and they include new Piano models in V2 (paid update) bringing it near or equal to the Moddart piano.

Edited: The three new piano models are included in the Piano V2 which is a part of V Collection 6.

Any opinions on the "accuracy" of the Clavinet model? Sounds pretty good to me but not having had any real experience with either a real Clavinet nor any of the good sampled instruments out there just curious what people are thinking.

Post

I owned a Clavinet in the early 80s. I haven't listened to this one yet but just listen to Stevie Wonder's Superstition intro and then listen to this and you'll have your answer. A clavinet, unlike a synth, is a relatively easy instrument to emulate so I'd expect it to be very close. Now, as far as the keyboard feel, nothing is going to duplicate that exactly. It had a very different feel from all my synths. But that's something else entirely.
