There are very few synths I care about for their vintage status or nostalgia. If I buy a softsynth it's going to be on its own merits, not how much it sounds like a real Whatever.

But some of those real Whatevers sounded quite good. So there's still some intersection.

A make a lot of music. I recorded 262 songs so far in 2017 -- probably will do a few more while I'm on Christmas travels, though all I have is my laptop with Maschine and no controller, and very few plugins. (Buchla Easel V is one of them.)

Beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder... I find the Arturia collection - warts and all - really great. I use what I feel is appropriate for whatever it is I’m doing and the Arturia collection gets its fair share of use. No one - I repeat - no one, not one of my clients in the field I work in has ever made a comment with regards to the vintage credentials or authenticity of the software synths I use, their only concern has been does the composition sound right for their needs. The only people who comment - and it’s not been many - are other musicians or forum members. I do feel - and it’s my subjective opinion - that the differences between an analog original and a software based emulation are becoming negligible particularly when it comes to the normal consumer listening to music on Spotify or smart phone etc. There are some great emulations at our disposal, and in the end I guess it just depends on personal preference. I’m really loving the demo of the Buchla Easel

However, I do agree with people like Ty Unwin and Yoad Nevo - amongst others - who feel the upgrade price a little steep.

aMUSEd the question was "which one you'd like Arturia to emulate next?", not "suggest a ton of competition's synths and alternatives". competition may have tons of stuff done, it doesn't mean you can't do it yourself and try to be better. that's what competition is all about and it's been like this since forever and will stay that way until we're extinct.

so since you don't have an answer to the question, I take it you're content and you don't need anything else. ok next. but this was not the question.

Covers.

I only occasionally write music but I love having those golden tones available for me whilst I recreate songs of yesteryear. And for that yes rather than trying to collect the physical versions it's great. I say write when it means I've committed to something till the end. I do however do a lot of dabbling "in the style of" across a wide variety of genre's Generally I give up when I find myself actually redoing something. That's the problem with having a wide variety of listening tastes, a very good memory and an adequate sense of relative pitch. Eventually it will come to you that it's a cover you are recreating rather than an original tune.

With regards to revisiting older plugins... err umm sure there are some that have stood the test of time but I'm less and less inclined to dig through the old freebies I used to use. Firstly I'm done with 32bit format. Yes I have jbridge and it works great but honestly the free ones aren't that great.

Really trying to figure out what exactly your issue is. Do you really not have any idea how you're coming off here?

Well... If you manage to locate one to loan to Arturia :hihi:

But I guess that area would be totally covered, and much better served, with an emulation of the Crumar GDS / DKI Synergy

No, but I know how you are coming off. As a random guy in between, trying to figure out what is really not his bloody business.

Yeah I figured as much (no you have no idea). You're posting questions on an internet forum that anyone who has an account on the forum is free to respond to, so shove off about the "bloody business" nonsense.

If this guy keeps it up, people will forget who I am. LOL

Happy holidays everybody.

I'd love to see some of the E-MU and Ensoniq classics. Fizmo, VX, SQ, Morpheus, etc. They're not crazy rare yet, but more people are starting to realize there is some seriously deep synthesis in those boards.

I still kick myself for getting rid of my SQ-80. I'd love to see Ensoniq and Emulators emulated.

:) If you're referring to me I call em as I see em. I've been reading these forums since 2004. Been here a long time. Not posting but here nonetheless.

If you're referring to this other guy don't know what to say about him ;)

No, referring to the new guy who's bucking for a quick banning if he keeps it up.

Post

I don't think the new guy is a new guy, but an old guy that had been banned already.
