and everyone got all the wavetable stuff in 1.2 for no additional cost. U-he could have easily rolled 1.2 into v2 and charged 50 EuroATN69 wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2019 10:12 am I feel more confused than ever after reading this thread. Either keep version 1 and save the money, or update for 20 EUR. Considering what functions and features that are new in version 2 I would argue that 20 EUR for the update is more than fair. I didn’t buy Hive 1, but if I don’t get Hive 2 for free, I’m going to tell everyone on the internet that Urs’s poop is extra stinky!

I don't understand the attitude that people have of companies owing them anything.
Any company, large or small, is making a business by selling people their products. They don't owe you anything for free, they aren't your friends. If you don't like how a company wants to do business with you, simply say "I don't care for your upgrade timelines and fees" and move on to some other company's competitive product. Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it won't work for anyone else.
Now, if a company is actively ripping off users with bait and switch tactics, wildly variable pricing, etc., that's a whole different kind of discussion to have. But that's clearly not what's happening here. Hive has been around for what, 4+ years? A 20 Euro upgrade fee after that span of time is completely reasonable.

u-he I mind you posted my e-mail. A gross violation of trust is breached. KVR Mod’s please address this issue with u-hell Your on a costumer Relations slippery slope with that disgusting display of disrespect.

Please keep in mind I agree with all of you. I was about to get the upgrade as I was excited. Just Urs has been vocal in the past about fairness a bit much. So I was simple curious what’s up. Think as u chose that’s fine. I love Spire so much, I bought the reSpire for my Reason also. I don’t want something for nothing. I just saw this purchasing an upgrade as something the old Urs preached against. I bought upgrade from Dune1 to Dune 2 happily. And would have Hive.

Did I miss that part? All I see is a statement from the u-He support teamHappy Frog wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:14 pm u-he I mind you posted my e-mail. A gross violation of trust is breached.
Btw there was a grace period where the upgrade was free. I think that and the only small upgrade fee for a completely redone plugin is fair enough.

Dude, seriously - you're not convincing anyone - just read the responses in this thread to see how little anyone agrees with you.Happy Frog wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:14 pm u-he I mind you posted my e-mail. Just try calming down and putting all of this in context. Urs is not a monster my any stretch of the imagination, and I think there's very little you can do that will convince anyone otherwise.

Am I really reading this correctly that the OP is upset that he was told he has to pay for the upgrade and can’t receive it for free?
Am I also understanding that the OP was expecting to get it for free, because he’s been a loyal customer?

All I got is... he was ok paying for the update at the beginning, then asked something to u-he support, and really didn't like the answer.elxsound wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:57 pm Am I really reading this correctly that the OP is upset that he was told he has to pay for the upgrade and can’t receive it for free?

But I can't understand (having red the OP several times) what he asked in the first place, at all.

From reading (and re-reading) the first post along with Urs' redacted reply I have a feeling it went down something like this:Niowiad wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2019 6:16 pm All I got is... he was ok paying for the update at the beginning, then asked something to u-he support, and really didn't like the answer.

* OP saw Hive 2 was released and discovered it wasn't free since they've had Hive 1 for 4 years.
* OP also discovered recent purchases of Hive 1 upgraded for free.
* OP contacted support in the hopes of getting a free upgrade. Probably by mentioning how early adopters (like OP) made u-he what they are today by buying early.
* OP was told they still have to purchase the upgrade.
* OP felt cheated even though they've used Hive 1 for 4 years.
* OP got angry they didn't get something they wanted for free and came here to rant.
Feel free to call me Brian.

It’s called great customer service. He’s giving the OP a chance.
