That's why Apple bought Emagic and FCP in the first place to have pro level software on their platforms which they control and that use their technologies so they can sell more hardware. Apple may not love us but unless everyone buys a new Mac every year, it sure feels nice to have a DAW that get updated on regular basis and all I paid for it was $199 all the way back in 2013.Jolaff wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 11:12 pmDo you think it's pure generosity coming from deep love they have for you ?...or they just calculated they will get more of your money by hooking you to their hardware with their software ?

Money that Apple would make from paid upgrades would probably be insignificant for them...

I've always seen it more as a way to get people to upgrade to the latest OS. Which is why I'm surprised that they didn't force it this time.
Logic Pro 10.5 is out!

Or more inclusive.Forgotten wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 3:14 pmFirst quote: "It looks Logic finally got modernized features that are existing in other daws for decade."

First one is specific: "features". The features were there already. Second quote: "ones" - vague and incomplete sentence.

I managed about 9 years with my 2009 27" iMac before finally getting a new one last year. I got the 8c/16t i9 9900K model and so far it has basically eclipsed all of my music related performance needs. It might even be overkill since I don't think I've ever seen CPU utilization exceed 15%. I went with the base RAM and expanded it to 48GBs 3rd party for less than $150. None of these computers are "cheap", but they've been pretty solid, reliable investments for me over the years. And they're quiet, which is something I very much appreciate.Jace-BeOS wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 11:33 pm They’re doing one better in my case: forcing me to buy another Mac because Mojave doesn’t support my iMac 12,2 from 2011(?). My main computer is a Late 2012 iMac that I got in 2013. It's only this year that I'm starting to feel like I need to upgrade. Waiting to see if Apple updates the iMac line this year with new CPUs and I'll update.Tronam wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 11:53 pmI managed about 9 years with my 2009 27" iMac before finally getting a new one last year. In what way? There's nothing more inclusive about "ones" over "features".tooneba wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 11:49 pmOr more inclusive.Forgotten wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 3:14 pmFirst quote: "It looks Logic finally got modernized features that are existing in other daws for decade."

I just got used to Cubase pro but this update is a killer. I didn’t even understand how good this is until I fully realized how to work with the DMD and the Auto Sampler. Now not sure what my fav daw is going to be

Because ones could include other than features?Forgotten wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 3:46 amIn what way? Auto Sampler is insane. Also Quick Sampler with pitch detection is perfect for one shot musical samples as not having to constantly transpose when trying out samples.NeoKortex88 wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 8:04 am I just got used to Cubase pro but this update is a killer. Is it possible to browse/audition samples inside of samplers in context of project (while it's playing some notes), without having to drag&drop them from library to sampler all the time?

So you changed the meaning of your quote by your own admission. Yeah, my use of Logic probably won’t run an iMac so hard as to fear thermal death...Tronam wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 11:53 pmI managed about 9 years with my 2009 27" iMac before finally getting a new one last year. ...but I also want to be able to do some 3D gaming and design. That’s what killed my MacBook Pro 3,1. iMac? No thanks. It’s just a slightly larger all-in-one. Even the 2013 Mac Pro has reports of thermal failures. No way in hell do I trust an iMac to be okay with that level of CPU & GPU stress on a regular basis. My current iMac 27” gets hot as hell on top just from the display alone.
I am not a hard core gamer, but even games from just a few years ago will still drive such a system very hot. That’s why I’m pissed the Mac Pro is no more (replaced by the Mac Pixar).

Sure, in the Zone go to File, click on the file name and select "Load Audio File" and as long as you have "Preview audio..." ticked in the lower left corner you can preview in-place.Passing Bye wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 1:43 pm Is it possible to browse/audition samples inside of samplers in context of project (while it's playing some notes), without having to drag&drop them from library to sampler all the time?
