I bought Izotope Nectar 3 from GC (first time buying from them) yesterday but got no mail from them acknowledging the order. I paid with Paypal. I have never had problems with any other store... anyone knows if they are manually handling orders???

Usually automated, but it could be that they ran out of serials which happens once in a while. I would give it a day or two. This is not uncommon.cnt wrote: Sun Aug 16, 2020 3:19 pm I bought Izotope Nectar 3 from GC (first time buying from them) yesterday but got no mail from them acknowledging the order. Did anyone else sign up for producertechs free trial promo 3 months ago and just got hit with a 9.99GBP auto charge to their paypal account? I don't really know how to feel, they trick you to sign up with a free trial then auto charge your account when you forgot about the site months later. It legitimately does not even have 1 single thing on it that would be useful to me at this point. I don't recall giving them permission to auto charge my paypal either.
I did e-mail their support so hopefully It's just an honest mistake on their end, if not I'm not sure what to do. does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? Thanks in advance

That's the whole point of these trials.
They count on at least a few people to forget that they need to cancel and get a bit of money out of the ones that never had a need for their service and would have never subscibed in the first place if it would have cost them.
If I subscribe to one of these I usually cancel a minute later just to be save. It (usually) lets you finish the trial time then and you don't have to remember to cancel 3 month later.

I signed up. Was on the fence about going another month but I thought I had another day to decide. I didn't make much use of it but that's on me. I found enough courses to suit me for a few months and started a few. I would say $12 for the 4 months of access I got to PT was a very good deal. I did cancel my sub and the paypal auth immediately after they billed me.timbit2006 wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 6:15 am Did anyone else sign up for producertechs free trial promo 3 months ago and just got hit with a 9.99GBP auto charge to their paypal account? One thing they do is make it very easy to cancel, and I would say it's your own negligence there. That's part of the nature of their business. The very business model of most gyms. There was the old Columbia House record club where you had to return the music every month or else get auto-billed. I expect they'll refund you but that one is on you mate. The only way you could have signed up for the trial was to give them authorization to bill you. It sounds like an honest mistake on your end.
Just got the 30-day Groove3 trial access and did some AB comparisons, ProducerTech just doesn't have the same breadth of courseware, not even close. What they have that I have watched is quality. Let's say higher quality than YouTube and they provide written documents, Ableton projects, presets, and samples for a lot of the courses. Haven't gotten that far on Groove3 to know how that aspect stacks up. I have both for the next month so I'll find out. PT course management interface is sub-optimal: makes it a nuisance to remove (still can't figure out how to remove a course) / track course progress (all manually tracked by you) / and it doesn't auto advance to the next video when watching, which is also annoying.

It's not at all clear from the FAQs etc on Producertech's site or even the initial sign-up page, so you might be able to pursue the line that they are at fault for not pointing it out and try to force a refund that way. Hiding details about charging on a second page (assuming those details are there) after you've provided all your contact info, is in my book, shady.
However, if a free trial needs payment information, it's a sign they are going to make a charge at the end of the trial if you don't cancel first. The only exceptions are if they advertise it as a "no commitment" trial but those generally only need contact details not payment.

I usually cancel something like that the minute after I sign up for it. It almost always works where it runs for the trial period then cancels afterwards.timbit2006 wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 6:15 am Did anyone else sign up for producertechs free trial promo 3 months ago and just got hit with a 9.99GBP auto charge to their paypal account? Just write them and tell them you forgot to cancel it and did not want to continue with it. They will probably just refund you and cancel it.

I gave the ask.audio one a go a few months ago. Planning to cancel soon, have nearly exhausted the videos of interest. Some of the masterclasses and high-level (e.g. synthesis types) courses are interesting, and the production quality is fine. But most of the product-related courses are useless; just a superficial run through the controls. Nothing you wouldn't get from the manual - maybe the target audience is people who prefer videos to reading? Was hoping for more advanced tricks, patch examples and comparisons between products.
And some of the masterclasses are pretty dubious, with genre conventions presented as absolute truths, no level-matching in comparisons, weird gain-staging... Funnily enough, my review pointing out a couple of these clangers never got published on the site, so take those user reviews with a large pinch of salt.

Its your own fault, just face it. Free trials always come with the caveat that they will charge you. Just accept this as a lesson. I've signed up for so many in the last year of shelter in place, like Ask Audio and I cancel right away. I forget some like You Tube TV and I just live with the mistake. If you didnt know you'd be charged you should really stay away from aggressively pursuing bargains. If it were my business I would never refund you.timbit2006 wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 6:15 am Did anyone else sign up for producertechs free trial promo 3 months ago and just got hit with a 9.99GBP auto charge to their paypal account? I never gave my PayPal info so I got a failed payment email, but there was no option in my account to cancel the subscription. I could either enter my PayPal info or my CC info. So it was either hidden very well or just not there.

I just got refunded. Everything is good now. Thanks for the advice everyone. I don't know how everyone else is doing financially but I'm currently 100% out of work for a few weeks and I really cant afford to toss 20 dollar bills out the window right now. I do want to say that Producertech did handle it very fast and efficiently and if their courses would help you out then they're probably worth it.
It was interesting reading peoples opinions on whether its right to autocharge after a trial period. I've personally been using the internet for at least 20 years and never had that happen to me so it was quite alarming.

Sorry, I was talking about using Kontakt's ability to output midi using the options. I've had some success with it with some libraries. But most that do arpeggiated sounds just spew out gibberish. And it seems that is what happens with the TO engine from what someone else said. The drag and drop midi in the Complete version is something different.Digivolt wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2020 10:52 amThe midi stuff only comes with Complete and the upgrade never goes on sale at least that's what they're saying in the thread at VI-Cdzilizzi wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2020 2:30 amComplete also comes with the Strings of Winter, which has gotten good feedback. The orchestra itself is okay. It is a decent starter library. The engine, however, is amazing. Very fun to play with. Not sure how good the midi out is using Kontakt. I'm not sure it produces a midi, or whether they are phrases. In which case the midi is based on the sheet music.D.Wako wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 7:06 pmI would contact them to make sure this is the case. You can always use midi out in kontakt and record it in your daw. It's slower but you should be able to get the same result. Again. probably best to have someone who owns it to confirm this.rockhopper wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 5:45 pmWhat kept me from even considering either one was the fact that only the Complete has this:D.Wako wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 5:28 pmLooks to me like The Orchestra is the bread and butter part of the complete package. So I'd say yes. But you're probably better wait for someone who actually used these products to confirm that.thenumber23 wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2020 5:16 pm I see a cool sale on Best Service The Orchestra, but I also see there's a The Orchestra Complete version.
Is the non-complete version an excellent product in its own right, or would one want the complete upgrade to feel they have a full package?
The Orchestra Complete also features the new MIDI-Export feature which allows you to drag and drop all five internal sequence tracks directly into your DAW as MIDI files.
So no MIDI Export in The Orchestra, you have to upgrade to Complete. Seems like a feature that shouldn't need an expensive upgrade.
edited: Also, you can always upgrade to the complete bundle later. Look for the upgrade price for comparison...
You can always buy TO, and update when it goes on sale?
