that's really how it works all over the place, with any goods. Retailers are always cheaper. That's how they can make a living as well, and it raises competition, which is usually good for informed end customers.

Then all producers had to write an apologize in their factory shops, for selling stuff cheaper at supermarkets.

Also, better to support the dev directly if you can. That allows them to pay the bills, pay salaries, and keep the lights on so they can keep making great plugins!

u-he as company can stipulate to resellers that they are not allowed to sell for less then retail. If they breach they can stop supplying them.

Understanding the subtlety of this usage requires second-order interpretation of the speaker's or writer's intentions; different parts of the brain must work together to understand sarcasm.Tricky-Loops wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:10 pmThen all producers had to write an apologize in their factory shops, for selling stuff cheaper at supermarkets.![]()

I doubt that it were legally that easy. There are RECOMMENDED retail prices and there are SUGGESTED retail prices, everything else would be secret arrangements in the back room.mladi wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:20 pm u-he as company can stipulate to resellers that they are not allowed to sell for less then retail. That's called price fixing and can get you into trouble as evidenced here recently:mladi wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:20 pm u-he as company can stipulate to resellers that they are not allowed to sell for less then retail. If they breach they can stop supplying them.

Companies cannot dictate a minimum price (though many try). If retailers pay for a product, they have every right to turn around and sell that product for whatever they want, even at a loss. It's not up to the company to decide what retailers can sell something for. Fender, Korg, Roland have all gotten in trouble for this recently as evidenced above.

To prevent that there were cartel agreements with disadvantages for the customer!
(Nonetheless, it happens, unfortunately sometimes.)

No, we can't. That would be in violation to EU laws, and apparently also to Canadian, Japanese laws as well. We don't have direct resellers/distributors in the US where such concepts as MAP (Minimum Advertising Price) exist (we only have distributors who also sell through retailers in the US).mladi wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:20 pm u-he as company can stipulate to resellers that they are not allowed to sell for less then retail. That said, in reply to other posts, I tried to find any other shop among our colleagues where it says "might be obtained cheaper at selected retail outlets" in the fine print or FAQ, but couldn't find any.

That's why music-store and Thomann have always nearly the same prices for every product i bought.Tricky-Loops wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:36 pm To prevent that there were cartel agreements with disadvantages for the customer!

Ok, my excuses to Urs. But $80 seems a bit on the wild side IMO.
