Actually, here's a thought. We should have a dedicated YT forum, and that should be the only place people are allowed to link to and promote their YT videos and channels.

Anywhere else and their accounts get banned.

Seems fair. They've got somewhere to post their shite, and anyone who doesnt give a f**k about their latest 'How to tune your Drums to 432Hz' and suchlike has them all in one handy place they never have to look at again.

(Hell, maybe once a year we can have them Battle Royale it out for a chance to post in the useful Forums. Only real fatalities count, tho.)

Is it just me or has there been an ongoing increase of posts where the posters quite obviously just want to advertise and push their YouTube channels with clickbaity posts,

Are affiliate links a forum no-no or is that only in the Bargains thread? Because there’s some affiliate link action in those posts.

Quite, it even says in the post “buy through the affiliate link. I never reported a post so far, but I actually did with this one, as it is definitely not the first time...

If I have a YouTube spammer on FLipside I simply ask them via PM to consolidate their videos to one thread. If they don't, then I do it for them and write something more public.

'Good' is pretty damned personal, and also kind of difficult to judge in advance of seeing the video.

If you've got a better proposal than what we've got

• not quarantine and all of us get swamped with junk

• quarantine and those of us who want to look for 'good' videos know exactly where to go

My proposal would be that video posts without a substantial text component are treated as spam and removed by moderators. If the post would be acceptable without the video link, it can stay.

Don't get me wrong, his videos are decent, it's just that it's blatant marketing. I think such posts belong in the Sell & Buy forum, as it's purely about promoting monetarized YT channels.

I don't see the problem. As obvious abuse, It wouldn't take long for that to be reported or for a mod to kick it, would it?

In other words, treat it the same way as other spam.
