I'm afraid not really. I only have the development thingy here, which is essentially the CPU from newest iPad afaik, and it's very slow, like at least 50% slower (single core) than the i7 MBPro 2018 I have here. I also checked some actual reviews online, where a bit unbiased people responded what was pretty clear - it's all a propaganda as usual and that part that MB M1 is faster than 90% PCs (or was it 99?) is especially outrageous and classic Apple nonsense (in this case it is technically a lie, but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings hereScotty wrote: Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:17 pm Vojtech I am wondering if you have done any performance efficiency tests with the m1 processor as it pertains to the recent update? Specifically are you finding that the M1 processor is surprising in any way in terms of what your end users might expect when running your plugins (good, bad or somewhere in-between) . Poorly worded but I think you get the gist.
On the other hand, I think it is a start. Perhaps some propaganda was needed for the world to start "doing something", who knows. Right now, it is clear that M1 isn't anything special, but future versions have a potential to be, since x86 is kinda stuck in increasing number of cores and not much else is happening. My guess is that it will take a few years for Apple to match the performance and perhaps then things are going to shift away from x86. From what I heard the power consumption is great though and it is really silent. Though my Asus Zenbook Pro Duo is like superfast and somehow it is silent too, though it has like 4x lower battery power
