I'm about to replace Ozone with Toneboosters. I feel people are aware of the quality of TB's plugins, it's just that their marketing is a lot less flashy and mostly relies on word-of-the-mouth as opposed to corporate cajoling. If it hadn't been for kvr, I probably would not have learned about their stuff.

Post

I agree with that, I think it was KVR and a random YouTube video that got me on EQ4. Someone picked the TB as their favorite EQ so I took notice of that immediately.

If there's one simple thing T.B. could do to improve the brand image I think, respectfully, it would be a website update. To make it look more like UAD, Softube, etc. That sort of "mojo" thing with the fancy words and evocative imagery. I think a slick highly involved front page would win a few people over. I'm sure there's some marketing genius you could hire for a fancy web design. The current web page reminds something of a windows utility software page, it doesn't quite do justice to the "studio person sound obsession" type of customer, that, these plugins are meant for.

At the end of the day the plugins are delivering big time though and that's the most important thing.

Don't forget about TB's user-friendly copy protection. Nowadays I steer clear of dongles, subs, even challenge/response and all that nonsense. Frankly, most plugins these days sound great, but some of them are likely to induce a cruel headache related to registration and now I only look at software from devs whose plugins are largely hassle-free.

Toneboosters is legit and makes great stuff, that's all that counts at the end of the day.

i picked up the EQ4 yesterday. It's pretty much everything i needed in an EQ.

I compared it to a few other great parametric and non parametric EQs, (because i was initially on the hunt for a semi-transparent character EQ i could stick on the master buss) and i really loved the sound of it, especially for the money.
I haven't tried the AI thing yet...
The dynamic and mid-side additions make it super versatile. The UI is sturdy and feels good to operate. analyzer... bonus
I wish i had this years ago.
I'll probably grab the bit juggler next.

Hoping they add adaptive frequency EQing to the list :D
auto deharsh style, but for thirty nine euro, it's a sweet package!

correct me if i'm wrong but i remember Toneboosters had a de-esser? and an effects bundle?
discontinued?

Post

I miss linear phase and /or minimum phase mode in eq4... And maybe some more analog distortion / saturation MOJO.
Tb had sibalance de-esser but it's been discontinued with the whole v3 plugin serie... Pity!

Jereon is a very clever cookie who knows a few things about DSP and all that coding stuff
No auto tune...

On a side note, I have not seen too many people praising Morphit and it definitely deserves praise too.

I've recently bought it and decided to give it a try by trying to emulate another pair of cans (Shures) that I've got. I didn't exactly A/B between the emulation and the cans, but the way Morphit emulates the spatial imaging as well as the darker frequency response of the Shures on my AKGs almost made me soil myself, it's so close.

Before doing the test, I thought the sound of Shures partially had something to do with their heavy, sturdy construction or the way they pressed against the ears or whatever (just a silly impression, whatever), but Morphit simulates the sound of the other headphones so goddamn well I couldn't believe I could make my AKGs sound so close to the original Shures.

Not an audiophile here or anything and I'm not arguing it's 100% the same, but it sounds pretty damn nice and it definitely reflects the vibe of the other pair of cans really accurately.

Hi Folks,

I have quite a few TB plug-ins - the Track Essentials bundle as well as several of the Bus Tools plug-ins (Sibalance, BusCompressor, FlX). Does anyone know if anything is happening with these now that they've been discontinued? A few of these were my "go-to" plug-ins and now that they're no longer being developed I'm a bit reluctant to keep using them.

Has the developer said anything? Is there any chance of seeing a "Sibalance 4" or a "BusCompressor 4"?

Cheers,

Chris

In short, v3 are being maintained for a while longer, but have been phased out of sales. So they are not discontinued yet, only not being sold anymore. The plugins are probably going to keep working for a few years.

The developer believes the newer v4 plugins more or less cover the range of features, although the community has asked for a v4 Sibalance at least. Obviously TB is still making plugins, so we can expect more v4 stuff to come out in the future.

Re: compressors
The developer believes Comp 4 is a replacement for the v3 compressors, including the track compressor and the bus compressor. For those that own either of the v3 bundles, there's an active discount on Comp 4 (you save about $10 IIRC).

There's a thread around here somewhere with this stuff.

Thanks for the info. Sibalance is the one that I would miss the most. I also think that there are a few others that aren't covered in the current line-up - Module, Gate, Time Machine, FlX. FlX is really useful as it allows upwards expansion. And there are several features on the BusCompressor that aren't present on Comp 4 - e.g. Transient, Noise, Pump.

I have a licence for Comp 4 but haven't used it on anything yet - I'm particularly interested in the band-limited feature.

Cheers,

Chris

I think we all pretty much agree with all your points. Hopefully we'll see this feedback taken into consideration for future releases.

Does anyone know if the Bus tool bundle will be updated for native apple silicon?
