I definitely did not buy whatever album Owner appeared on. 952-something iirc.
it's IMO a kind of uneven effort. I actively like that song, though. I didn't like the direction overall and I developed an animus for Trevor Horn rather quickly. Wakeman liked to say "Owner of a Horse and Cart" for some reason.

I liked 90125 a lot. It was a solid collection of melodic rock. Much like Dio vs Ozzy era Black Sabbath, both things I like for different reasons.

What was really pathetic was Steve Howe trying to do the solo to Owner, at least when I saw them in 2015. It was like he was freaked out by the harmonizer and couldn't deal with the concept that he would play one note and out came two. Seriously, with all the stuff he's done, that trips him up?

I myself don't care for anything after Close to the Edge.

I hated the title track. Swap it out for "At the Gates of Delirium" and Close to the Edge would have been a much better album.

also Going For the One is easily the greatest rock album ever

Definitely in my top 10. In particular there is very little that effects me the way the song "Awaken" does. Hearing it done live was cathartic, every time.

i would add "the Glorious Om Riff" to that list also.

I had about forgotten about Yes by 1983. When they came out with that I was highly amused.

I had not forgotten Yes and excitedly bought the album on the day it was released. The excitement died almost as soon as the stylus hit the first track.

I was a bit earlier. After enjoying the solo albums I looked forward to their return when Going For the One came out. I missed Roger Dean's artwork on the way home. I was so put off by that opening track that I just put it aside and moved on. Tormato did not entice the wallet

Yeah, I forgot about "Tormato". Or perhaps 'repressed' would a better word.

After so many years I did come around to some of the tracks aside from the opener. My Yes collection is all over the place with an embarrassingly large number of 'Close to the Edge' live performances.
I dare to mention the dreaded Tales From Topographic Oceans because people (including a certain band member who quit) have such strong opinions about it, but I still enjoy an occasional listen

I have a record, Relayer, by Yes, and it's cool.

I had an original group formed with someone that went from being majorly in thrall to the Beatles to being in that kind of thrall to Yes.
I was heavily into particularly Close to the Edge, and South Side of the Sky and Heart of the Sunrise on Fragile. We were both heavily into Tales. This singer/songwriter ended up very religious, I just am not geared to that.

We only saw them once, in Columbia SC with the group with Moraz after Wakeman split. I went onto music school and there was a lot of catching up to do. Relayer was probably the last thing I played very close attention to for a while.

Wakeman refused to memorize parts he played on the album, Tales and Anderson kept hammering at him to, finally "I'm about sick of you" and he left.

Ha. I'd read that Wakeman wasn't on board with the whole concept & bickering about chord changes that went on for hours and such
It's a shame how things worked out with Moraz. I liked what he brought to Relayer.
You're hitting all the spots with those song choices but for me 'And You And I' is....yes I'm going to say it, Everything!
