Thanks for reporting this! Will be fixed in the next update.

So, the test gave me the same results: Lag.

It must be a graphic issue because, as I shrink the MuLab main window, the lag becomes less and less until (at 60% or less) it’s not longer there and actually the response gets very snapping when the overall window gets even smaller.

The lag is even more visible when working in the automation track. The curve manipulation has a more “visible” lag then the piano roll.

M7 is super snappy.
Thanks for the update. I can't immediately follow up on this atm, but will do so in a couple of days.

Quickly thinking this thru i don't expect it's related to the transition to vector graphics. But i'll do my best to further investigate this Mac lag issue. If it turns out to take too much time it might be postponed to M9.x, but i'll certainly first do some extra research on this in a couple of days.

Thanks Jo. I forgot to add that the the Cursor is also jumping (quite difficult to the eyes), not running smooth as in Windows or M7.x.

Again, the smaller the window the smoother the cursor travels.

Freq spectrum analyser is stuttery in Mulab plugin, but in app it works fine. This behaviour stops once the module's window is being held by the cursor.

One more thing, in Reaper, once the plugin is in floating mode and has more than 1 window open at the time (main window and windows of other modules) and then is un-floated, all the windows disappear. I thought it is a normal behaviour but then I noticed that Melda plugins preserve the windows in this exact scenario.

Not sure what you mean, Freq Spectrum Analyzer animates fluently here. Pls elaborate, maybe using a screen video.

oldcastle wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 12:46 pm Hi,

I'm not sure where to post a bug issue for M9, so please advise.

I'm running M9 on Linux with Wine 7.4 staging. Everything works fine, the speed of this program is better than some native ones :-)

I found one issue. When you first open M9, it presents you with a demo song. Now, if you right-click on any track and then click on "Choose Target Module", the window goes on and off instantly. It doesn't allow me to do anything. The same thing happens if you want to add an automation sub-track.

Can you reproduce this issue?

Cheers.
Linux user here. MuLab is a Windows application, as you know. It works fine in Windows. It's not a problem with MuLab, it's a problem in the WINE API layer. While there ARE things a developer can do to better support Windows apps running under WINE on Linux, the best solution is to get involved in the bug reporting at WINEHQ. They have a database of various apps, and testers can report their experiences and bug problems with the WINE API. That way, the WINE API can be improved/fixed to run the Windows version of MuLab under Linux. :) If you stay dedicated and involved with your MuLab testing and reporting as each version of WINE is released, I bet you can help things to eventually run as well on Linux as in Windows. :)

Best

Edit: Ha! Good on you! I see that you've already contacted WINEHQ! :tu:

https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=36332&p=136497

May I also suggest enrolling as a MuLab "maintainer" so that you can test each version and report to the developers any improvements or regressions between WINE versions?

I may have a "quick fix" for this issue until WINEHQ comes up with a solution. In the Wine configuration window, tick "Emulate a virtual desktop" checkbox and choose a desktop size:

This does appear to fix the right-clicking and related window issues running Mulab in Wine under Zorin OS but your mileage may vary. MuLab can appear full screen by making the desktop size the same resolution as your monitor but I would suggest making the window smaller unless you have created a Wine crash escape route shortcut - just in case!

I'm using the latest beta.

After I resize a track, is there a way of undoing it? The Undo doesn't work. Plus, I could not find any shortcut or event to get the track to its default height.

I don't think you can get it back to default but you can resize them all at once by scrolling the mousewheel over the track pannel.

I'm having problems with Internet connection. Will make a vid once it gets back to normal.

Ok. That would be a little nice feature to have. Either using undo or an event, like CTRL+click to restore to the default size.

When you write "M7.x" that's M7.7.4, right?

I've also uploaded M8.1.5 (full package) and M8.6.9 (app only) in https://www.mutools.com/mulab/legacy-versions/M8/
Do M8.1.5 and M8.6.9 also have that same laggy behavior with large windows?

Yes, that's the idea :tu:

I may need some help with some Prefs as I'm not 100% sure what everything does. I'll check the manual first though :)

And thanks Jo for accepting the idea and for all your work on MuLab, I'll be purchasing an M9 license today!

And thanks SL23 for mentioning sale availability here. I must have missed the announcement. License bought!
