When I browse presets, I often find myself spending a lot of extra clicks to turn off reverb, chorus, delay, etc, to find out what the preset "really sounds like" and whether I can get it to fit into the same soundworld as my other tracks.
I totally understand that.

In my Zebra libraries there's always an XY dedicated to reverb and/or delay. This way you can lock it into a corner to disable those while browsing presets but still get other effects like distortion, EQ, etc.

Or in Zebra you can completely disable the effects with the FX bypass button. I think it can be locked too but I'm not 100% sure now.

That's a neat workaround!

And suggests that a global reverb/delay bypass would be a useful option, so it can be more standardised.

I similarly appreciate when reverb plugins allow me to globally disable the dry mix while browsing presets. (So that they work properly as send FX.)

I agree with both takes. I also tend to disable reverb/delay/effects when I find a really solid patch in order to properly mix it. The only time I would leave the effects on is when they are so paramount to the patch that it loses the character without it.

A global reverb/delay or FX parameter would save a few mouse clicks for sure.

Will Z3 gonna have unison?

Same as Hive: On oscillator level, yes, vastly. But I don't think stacking voices has an advantage over simply setting up multiple similar lanes in the Grid, since you also get better CPU and more polyphony from it. There'll be quick ways to copy modules in Z3.

Thank you for the answer :-)

Will Z3 have drawable curves for envs and lfos like serum without using MSEG?

Post

Also really love the modular routing in Massive X,really fast and easy to see whats going on,hopefully z3 will have something similar to that

I believe this has already been confirmed as a yes

As far as routing goes I will say my favorite part of the current Zebra is the modular center window, so I hope that doesn’t change too much

Hehehe, I don't think I have made that commitment...

If LFOs and envelopes had drawable curves, we wouldn't need MSEGs. But then, both envs and LFOs would need to be a lot more complex, have more controls, take more screen estate, probably be tabbed away (like in Serum) and make Zebra a whole lot more complicated to use even if the drawable shapes were not needed.

Therefore, MSEGs in Zebra serve as complex envelopes, LFOs and in future probably also as mapping devices. Keeps ends and LFOs lean, provides complexity when needed, and only when needed.

That won't change.

Autumn, more likely. On the positive side (no pun intended), I'm now immune against the latest Omicron variant, as is half of the team. Everyone is good, but schedules are out of whack.

That’s a relief then. Take all the time you guys need, I’ll do my best to handle my impatience hehe ;)
