MuLab App 9.0.48 is available in https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/latest-binary

What's changed:

• New internal method to perform a "Render Composition/Tracks/Clips...".
  Previously such rendering was done in the main user thread, but this could cause problems (eg rendering certain VST plugins) so now this rendering is done in a separate thread.
• When moving/copying sidechained modules between racks, it was possible to create an infinite routing, causing a hang. Fixed.
• Changing the "Level Meter Maximum Level Fall Down Time" preference was not immediately visible. Now it is.
• When automating parameters of the module inside a Modular Feedback Delay and the MFD was in auto-bypass mode, this automation was not processed, which also ceased all event sequence playback. Fixed.
• New color preferences for the level meters: See MULAB menu -> GUI -> Colors -> Level Meter Low/Medium/High Colors.
• In some cases audio stream clips could unexpectedly continue playing after their end. Fixed.
• Right-click [+] Track button: "Delete Unused Tracks" was missing. Fixed.
• When the keyboard on top was hidden right-clicking the CPU meter did not give the option to Show Audio Engine Stats, but only to Show Keyboard. Fixed.
• Several important stability / performance improvements wrt recording and editing audio files, especially when intensively using many / long audio files.
• Other improvements.

Currently this M9.0.48 update is only available for MuLab App for Windows.
The corresponding updates for MuLab Plugin and for MacOS will follow soon.

does this mean, able to render without including fx on master track etc?

Preference "use unfolded context menus" does not work in Mulab menu, project menu and composer menu.

It does work but some sub-menus are internally tagged to not auto unfold. I understand this might feel a bit ambiguous, and maybe that aspect will be re-evaluated at a later time. (due to current time management)

The new color options for level meters are really cool! Mulabs theming gives it a big leg up over other software. I wish Bitwig had a dark mode like what I can make in Mulab

I can't repeat this.
This all sounds like MuLab is not allowed to write to the user folder.
Could it be that you have installed MuLab in a write-protected folder?

I double checked this, and can repeat this in both my home directory and downloads folder (which are not write protected). I also tried this with a new install. hmmm... I'll keep poking at it to see what I can find.

On a (possibly) related note, Mulab seems to not be exiting cleanly:

Looks like a thread or a stream is still open. The different memory values implies to me that a resource isn't getting cleaned up, otherwise they'd likely all be similar.

I'll continue to research these issues. Maybe it's something weird on my end (wouldn't be the first time. I have a lot of software that does weird virtual directory stuff).
