Soldering smells nicer than programming though :D

I feel like the only way to make it exist is getting a little midi controller commissioned or something. I don't like tablet midi stuff but I think that's the only other option.
nanoPad, pretty cheap

If the nanopad was available with just four touchpads it'd be ideal.

Aha, that and a bit of gaffa tape...

You seem to be against them, but classic iPad app stuff there.

You'd just need some rtpMIDI handler on your PC/Mac. Bluetooth adapters are really cheap.

U-he's ambition will never keep up with the changes. It worked with Zebra 2 because it was a synth in a synth desert. Zebra 3 will end up like Synthmaster

What OS are you on? If you are on a Mac, Audioswift gives you multiple XY pads on your trackpad. It's not as large as a tablet and it can take some practice to get trackpads three and four going. But there's nothing to connect. I'm a happy customer.

You can also put XY pads on a tablet or ipad screen using the TouchOSC app (and I think there's a few other similar apps out there too). Getting it to talk to your DAW can be fiddly, but you only have to set up that part once.

or ... simply use Zebra perf interface with a touchscreen laptop ;-)

Post

The big issue with Audioswift or the Nanopad is you don't have a reference. When you tap you will not land on the exact same spot the XY pad is. You can of course then redraw the CC lanes but that become quite tedious.

A touch screen is much better but personally I'd just love a controller with 4 hi-res joysticks (for when MIDI 2 becomes generally available).

Or just use 8 faders...

BTW Urs one feature I'd love to have in Zebra 3 is full range OSC pitch modulation. This is great for making kick drums!

Maybe I'm mistaken but I think even Bazille cannot do that?

You can of course modulate the frequency of a filter with self oscillation up to 20Khz but sometimes you want the envelope to more snappy and the resonance doesn't react quickly enough.

I have a two-joystick Logitech gamepad and Korg NanoKontrol2 teamed up
in Reaper daw, which has a joystick support button in it's midi preferences
panel, and a few choices. The live joystick xy access to U-he mappings is a delight, and the slightly less live knobs and sliders on the Korg are also useful.
Cheers

Modulating osc freq from matrix has a higher range , or you can right click osc frequency and choose mmix module( which will appear at the right side ) , there you stack your ( same) sources * constant module
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

In Zebra the matrix seems to have exactly the same range as the slot in the module. You can of course stack both to get to a higher frequency although it would be nice to not have to do this hack.
