It's not really to do with V5 beta... but with Birds Midi Cap, it is easy to quickly capture the output of a bunch of Note FX and drag them to a new track! Very useful!

There might be workarounds,....
IMO this along with MIDI/audio capture is the direction I would like to see Bitwig go in.

Wow, that and the audio version Rolling Sampler both look really great. (And free and $19 is pretty good value...!)

Does it work with note expression/MPE then?

Don't know...

So far I have only used it as a way to print Note FX. That works quite well!

When I first tried Capture in Ableton Live, I really liked it. In essence, Capture fixed a bad habit I had that I didn't realize that I had. Sometimes I just dropped a plugin into a track and played, and later wished I had recorded it. I think the reason that I didn't record it stemmed from very old habits about being aware of running out of disk space. Ableton's Capture is basically always recording.

The actual solution to the problem is to never, ever, play anything without making sure there is a recording of what you did. Always Record Everything!

How is Bird's Midi Capture any different from routing the track that you might be interested in capturing to another midi track and recording that as a clip? Or even simpler, just hit the clip record on your track before you play. It's all there. You have native tools to edit it. It does MPE. If you don't feel inspired by your take, ignore it, or delete it if you like things neat and orderly.

You have to put these third party tools on other tracks and set them up. Why not use your own DAW to do the same thing.

It's nice to quickly loop a section and just noodle and grab anything you happen to like. Or even grab something you played when the project wasn't playing. Having to constantly record when you don't even know if you'll end up with anything worthwhile is annoying. It's great to have something that is constantly recording your playing no matter the track, playback state, or whether or not you're actually recording.

I guess they are running all the regression tests as they consider the beta 6 is good.

Hello, I have a bug with the Beta 6 but I am not sure if it is a bug and I wanted to double check with you.
I am using a project modulator (the macro in particular).
I want to use the macro to control the cutoff of a few of my synths all at once. I am trying with Spire.
When I set the modulation, I can see the button reacting and the little blue drawing showing. But after, when turning the macro, .... nothing happen...
Any clue ?

EDIT:
Ok, I found a weird work around. I do what I wanted to do with the macro (modulation) directly on the synth. So I control with this macro the cutoff.
And then with the track macro I control the other macro.... that control the cutoff. And then it works...
But weird, not the expected behaviour I think...

On of my problem was very similar: I setup a macro at track level to control various parameters of a synth and other plugins at once. It worked after setting it up in the same session, but then after reloading the project a day later the "connection" between macro and all tragets was lost. After trying it once more with the track modulator but ran into the same problem I changed to using a Chain instead ... see my question here: viewtopic.php?t=596638

Another problem could be somehow releated because you mentioned "Macro": I use nakst Apricot in CLAP version. I tried to setup a modulation lane and directly modulate the filter parameter. but it consistently crashes the audio engine ... it crashed even that hard that a few minutes later bitwigs window completly crashed away and disappeared .. on top of that it left my project file corrupt. This "need to use indirection" behaviour is kind of consistent as well, because each attempt to go directly from automation lane to synth parameter resulted in a nice crash...
I discovered that a workaround is to add an intermediate macro, i.e. the automation lane controls the macro and then the macro controls the filter parameter of the synth.

It's beta ... think we have to accept it has errors. But strangely there have not been any new betas lately!? Probably the Beta was a rushed up thing to get it to NAMM? And now they have to do a lot of polishing ...side thought ... why they invested in a new browser rather than in other features? Anyone getting the reason behind the new browser?
