The active track is a midi track, because I set my MIDI controller as the input device. The output from the drums plugin is getting recorded fine, but only to the active track. I can only make one track active at a time.
Noobish qn: "Create multi-out wrapper" vs. "Create multi-out wrapper in submix"

Yeah, Waveform has no way to see down the line how certain notes are associated with certain outputs. It works left-to-right. MIDI coming into a track gets recorded onto that track.
Also note that with Racks the MIDI input is shared across every instance. So you can definitely create MIDI clips on one track that only have notes that are for the kit pieces that go to that track's output, but you will have to do it yourself. One thing I have done in the past is create a MIDI clip on one track, copy it across tracks, then open each and delete the notes that aren't for that track.

This still sounds like you are recording the audio output of the plugin. Is that really what you mean? That plugin probably does not output MIDI. Tracks only record what is coming in from the left; either MIDI or audio device. You can only record the output of a plugin if you set the input device on the very left to record the output of another track. The output from the plugin is getting recorded fine, but only to the active track.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Okay - thank you. At the end of the day, it's not a big problem, because like you said, there are other ways to get each drum/cymbal/instrument onto its own track. I was just hoping I could play a drum groove and get each drum/cymbal to record onto separate tracks, sumultaneously. Likewise with other instrument plugins that can have multiple instrument sounds playing at once.pough wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:00 pm Yeah, Waveform has no way to see down the line how certain notes are associated with certain outputs. memory has not changed) yes, everything is right 8 tracks - if you read the names of the instruments, then everything will become clear why 8. The screenshot shows how you can understand and change the drum map.

Thanks, Nowgad. I will have a look at that, tomorrow.nowgad wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:20 pm memory has not changed) yes, everything is right 8 tracks - if you read the names of the instruments, then everything will become clear why 8.
