No, no, don't close the thread, it's still about Avenger!
am looking forward to where the discussion goes, especially after 24 november, when avenger 2 is out...

I strongly think that granular is the sound of today’s modern records. You hear this granularity everywhere on successful records, it’s on every pad...

I love the granular part in Avenger with all my heart : I get the feeling that I’m controlling the sound I’m feeding it instead of getting pure nonsense like some synths do.

Does Current only have any granular oscillator ?!? I haven’t seen any mention of this.

If I have to choose one (and the price tag of Current helps a lot), no need to think for more than a second, may it be Avenger 1 or 2 or even 1.8...

I think it is a powerful synthesis technique that is currently kind of overused and faddy, yes. But it's cool and capable of a lot of awesome sound movement.

Avenger 2 is $230 US, and Current is $199 US; certainly comparable. am having fun with the Current demo, just want to explore Avenger 2 when it drops. money is no object (since i don't have any) :D

It’s a taste thing, doesn’t matter.

I’m simply pointing out that one is excellent at this, the other simply can’t as far as I know (and its name is "Current", which is imo a nice fail for today’s music market where you see granular soundbanks popping every day).

I have checked Avenger now with different buffer sizes, 48 kHz

48 / 1.5ms
64 / 1.9ms
128 / 3.2 ms
256 / 6 ms
512 / 10.8 ms

I checked 10 presets and all buffer sizes were fine. 48 had some crackles, though.
Well, I didn't check it in a complete project, only one instance!

Agreed. I happen to like it (while recognizing that it's everywhere now )

Thanks but how are you getting those ms numbers. They dont look right as rtl, that is complete latency numbers.
Also not all patches give problems.. like there is an arp blackbelt or something similar that brought avenger to its knees on my intel mac.
Though the ms numbers though i think incorrect doesnt matter.
Interesting.
I forgot. Are you are on mac or pc?

It also works with 7 instances (6 with recorded tracks and one for improvisation).
Reaper displays ms
PC / Windows/ Reaper V7.05

So does cubendo. But that ms displayed there is not the correct rtl. Anyway that doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for doing the test.

sound matters most (for me). anyway, will compare WHEN avenger 2 is out. by december, will have chosen one (and will report back).
I think you could decide from Avenger 1 which you will prefer..

seems reasonable (since 2 should just be 'more' & 'better')... no demo? hmmm time to go to youtube... :o

Just go with Avenger for gods sake, if you prefer sound it is definitely better than Current which is unfortunately rather generic sounding.. also releasing another wavetable synth at the end of 2023 really shouldn't be rewarded..

define 'generic'....

some of those full avenger loops (with drums, bass, synths, etc) are... not sure what they are. if i choose one, and hold down middle C... am i a producer?

one thing for sure (re Current and Avenger 2); i do not want to hear ANY wobble basses... :dog:

EDIT: watching this now:

EDIT2: ok: nothing about this interests me. i don't need fully-formed songs to trigger, don't need pianos & other basic sounds,& have a dozen great plugins currently. so, am leaning towards Current (or, lol, nothing new right now...)
