Please *don't* get me started on this subject. I'm britsh, living in America. I have a far better idea than most exactly what my dollars buy me in the UK, compared to what they buy me in the US, and I'm always scouting deals for friends and family here. "Rip off Britain" is a stupid f-cking myth put out by the British media when they have sod all useful to write about!leeturne wrote:In rip off Britain (a commonly used name here) we really do get ripped off. In what other country would you be able to buy locally produced products (e.g. motor vehicles) significantly cheaper in other countries. Ironically I could buy some British made products cheaper in South Africa than in the U.K.
As for the British produced cars argument, why can I buy text books at less than a third of their US price in the UK (as most smart American students are learning to do), including many that are *printed* in America? Why are Americans travelling in droves to Canada to buy American drugs?
