In what other country would you be able to buy locally produced products (e.g. motor vehicles) significantly cheaper in other countries. Ironically I could buy some British made products cheaper in South Africa than in the U.K.
Please *don't* get me started on this subject. I'm britsh, living in America. I have a far better idea than most exactly what my dollars buy me in the UK, compared to what they buy me in the US, and I'm always scouting deals for friends and family here. "Rip off Britain" is a stupid f-cking myth put out by the British media when they have sod all useful to write about!

As for the British produced cars argument, why can I buy text books at less than a third of their US price in the UK (as most smart American students are learning to do), including many that are *printed* in America? Why are Americans travelling in droves to Canada to buy American drugs?

Put things into perspective. Britain is a member of the EU yet does not abide 100% with the regulations of that body. Free trade is a given between mainland EU countries, if you live in france but are near the Spanish border then you can pop next door and get cheap fuel. Our customs authority still impound goods brought in from France and in some cases the vehicles used to bring them in. They cite the 'personal use' excuse to do this. This is not a myth this is fact, I know people it's happened to. How do you explain a Nikon camera selling for $700 and £700. Both are imported into their respective countries. What about the most expensive fuel in Europe yet with the cheapest cost of production. Why could I buy Italian made items in South Africa for 30% less than the same items in the U.K. when there is free trade between Italy and the U.K.? We can always find specific examples of goods that are confusingly cheaper outside the country of manufacture but in the U.K. it is consistent across the market. And yes I know what different currencies can buy having travelled to every continent and living in three.

I'm going slightly off topic so Mackie, can I get T2 direct from you?

Sorry, I for some reason thought you were all talking about the other way around. My bad, I didn't read close enough. Hey, it was late. Sorry  !

Koolkeys, no problem. It looks as though we all have problems with certain goods being inexplicably expensive. If the upgrade price is reasonable then to be honest paying 20-30% surcharge won't be too bad, the problem will be for new purchasers buying the boxed edition if they have to pay say £180. It takes them into the lower end Steinberg territory. Since using Tracktion I've found myself championing it to other users and I'd hate to see it priced out of the market. People will buy a name brand when two products are around the same price regardless of the features.

When I started this post it was Sunday morning, tired, irritable with two hyperactive kids screaming around the place.

I will only be able to afford T2 if the upgrade download is priced at the conversion rate of the day, not the usual UK straight $1=£1 stitchup. Force the price up to £199 and I'm sticking to 1.6.
I'm looking forward to the bundled plugins, because for some reason I can't download the free ones- when I click the links on apulsoft all I get is pages of gibberish and no VSTs :x If anyone's willing to email me Mac OSX versions of Ticky Clav, Cheez Machine and the other ported VSTs from apulsoft I'd be very grateful.

No competition there then..

Yes, downloadable please. We in Canada regularly get screwed pretty severely on taxes + duties at the border too.
Right on Floyd! I sure hope there will be a load option. The one reason I haven't upgrade to Sonar 4 is the taxes and duty given that Cakewalk will only use courier not regular mail.

So.. I haven't been following the forums very religiously lately (pretty f**king chaotic in here; hard to believe signal/noise ratio could get lower, but it has)... Whats the verdict? Downloadable or boxed only?

Whether it is downloadable or not is a dealbreaker for me, that's for sure.
