Not such a special offer I think, and certainly not what I consider a sale price.
I shudder to think how much I've got into Cubase though.
I've been using it for over 30 years, and currently have all of the versions.
Yup! Same here, same price as upgrade.
Let's hope a (BF?) upgrade deal is around the corner now.

My only wish for the new synth in V7 is an accurate emulation of the Waldorf Microwave XT, that's the only thing missing in my collection. Especially since they're more into digital emulation currently and really great at that. They usually upgrading their synths to the newer version. I'm amazed with the free Synclavier update and would love to see the DX7 V growing to reach the SY77 territory with some samples. Maybe as a different plugin and it didn't have to be the same samples as the SY line. With what they already have, it supposed to be not a hard thing to do, including something like the TG33 type of synth.

I guess their strategy is to get people aboard the "upgrade train" by discounting the full product for first-time buyers. Then once they've got you, they make you upgrade every 12 - 18 months for $250. Not an unusual strategy, but I can understand why it would rub loyal customers the wrong way.thejonsolo wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 2:04 am Except this price is the same price as the upgrade... and that is hard for people like me who have upgraded to every new version since V2 (except to V6).
And their upgrade for V6 does not go on sale. Just really bad form.
And yes it is worth $250. Would have loved to have paid just that much for it. I am in for about $700 in all after initial price and upgrades for just V5. So V6 for about a third of that? Sure.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Well no, they don't make you upgrade, the earlier versions keep working just fine!
So I wait patiently until I can get a better upgrade deal (that I reasonably can afford!).
(The free Synclavier upgrade was a nice gesture, though!)

Last upgrade was $199
Thats $50 per additional synth, we can even buy them indivdually at that price when on sale.
I wont remind what those synths were
Doesnt seem too shody

So upgrades possibly during black Friday sales, were something like $99 in the past, in which case it was worthwhile to upgrade rather than buy products individually. But I haven't seen any reasonable prices for upgrade since.
I think I'll just buy individual products at sale prices in future instead, and in fact, the only instrument I'm interested in in Collection 6 is the DX7, but Dexed is a perfectly good free alternative with thousands of free presets.
Oh, and the Synclavier upgrade is great, and was generously free for V1 owners, so I appreciate that.

There is NO COMPARISON between DeXed and DX7 V... Believe me. And DX7 V also reads all the SYX files available, so, anything available for DeXed is available for DX7 V... where it sounds WAY BETTER.egbert101 wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:41 am ... the only instrument I'm interested in in Collection 6 is the DX7, but Dexed is a perfectly good free alternative with thousands of free presets.

They could morph the DX7 V into a FS1R V as an upgrade.
I also like the Waldorf idea.

I almost said the same thing but based on history it's possible. 5->6 was one year. Seems usually it's two years between releases. So possible but given the recent updates to Synclavier and all of the other stuff in 6 I wouldn't bet money on it.

No-brainer at that price.
