Did you try turning on the oversampling switch?Tp3 wrote:Yes,the gui IS beautiful.
But I have found the plug way (WAY) too thick on electronic music. to the extent that it becomes gooey (wheres ReelBus makes everything just "more" in a positive way).
I gain staged the audio before it and flicked through presets (particularly the warmth one) but the sound just became overbearingly thick (not fully distorted but also far from pleasing. IMO at least - with that type of music).
Anyone else ?...

Yeah, but that bundle is only a few bucks more than what he charges for the individuals he sells. Clearly worth it.Monkberry wrote:Damn, just tried Module and it's such a great tool. Only available as a bundle? Bummer!

Yes, it's not that.Aubrey Lamont wrote:Did you try turning on the oversampling switch?Tp3 wrote:Yes,the gui IS beautiful.

I had a little more fun with it... and I think I know what's going on :
It seem that bass/sub-bass heavy material suffer EXTREMELY from very-moderate-to-high values on "Drive" and "Compress" settings. one has to dial them very low in order to maintain "solidity" in the sound otherwise sound breaks/start to fart. try "Warm Saturation" preset - as it is - on bass heavy material and tell me what you came up with.

You are 100% correct. I checked out what's in the bundle and it's a bargain even if I only got Module and Reverb, but there's quite a bit more included.bk wrote:Yeah, but that bundle is only a few bucks more than what he charges for the individuals he sells. What's the difference between Ferox and ReelBus?

http://www.toneboosters.com/tb-ferox/#more-586TB Ferox, and its cousin TB ReelBus
One might wonder what the difference is between TB Ferox and its more advanced cousin TB ReelBus:
TB ReelBus is accurately modeled after tape recorders; TB Ferox consists of a more general and simpler tape saturation simulation.
TB ReelBus has tape hiss and asperity noise models, these are not available in TB Ferox.
TB ReelBus has a wide variety of tape models; TB Ferox has saturation and hysteresis controls that can work in 2 modes.
Besides non-linear behavior, TB ReelBus also models certain spectral features of tape, such as the head bump.
TB ReelBus has configurable pre- and post emphasis, not available in TB Ferox.
TB ReelBus has wow and flutter simulation, this is not present in TB Ferox.
In general, TB Ferox has a lower CPU load and is therefore very suitable for individual tracks, while TB ReelBus fits better with busses and complete mixes (although it can sound pretty good on individual tracks as well).

Seriously, buy the Track Essentials for a measly 25 Euros. You won't regret it.Monkberry wrote:Damn, just tried Module and it's such a great tool. Only available as a bundle? Bummer!
As well as Ferox, all the other plugins in the bundle really are very usable, good quality and low CPU usage.
There are regular free updates too
The new Ferox GUI is stunning. I haven't used Ferox as yet, but I will have to give it a good try out now.
Thanks Jeroen, you totally rock

Ok, I spent some more time with ferox. I think you're correct, but I don't see this as a flaw with the plugin. I've had good results by just slightly driving the plugin with low saturation settings.Tp3 wrote:Yes, it's not that.Aubrey Lamont wrote:Did you try turning on the oversampling switch?Tp3 wrote:Yes,the gui IS beautiful.

I noticed that "just" 10% saturation is going to add noticeable effect. Anything over that (some presets use 40-60%) will be extreme and can probably only be used for specific tasks.

It's not a flow but such extreme results may give the wrong impression of the plug.Aubrey Lamont wrote:Ok, I spent some more time with ferox. Looks like TB BusCompressor is getting some love. Assisted Level Makeup, a high quality mode, a mid/side mode, and, most importantly...
I hope all the changes help with the low frequency smearing that's making this blush a little in comparison to other compressors that give lows some sort of special treatment (Kotelnikov/ThrillseekerVBL)...ToneBoosters Facebook wrote: ...a 'hold' control expressed in cycles instead of seconds! I love this comp.I have tried a lot on the master but this thing is a gem.oneshotdeal wrote:Looks like TB BusCompressor is getting some love. Assisted Level Makeup, a high quality mode, a mid/side mode, and, most importantly...
