It is a commercial synth.ferez21 wrote: Sat May 01, 2021 9:56 am I gonna demo it but is Vital really as good as commercial synths?

Vital can be CPU heavy. But it is very professional synth I would say. I mean it feels/looks like some very expensive synth (or even better than some very expensive synths - Vital is easy to get around for sound design & for preset browsing compared to some other expensive synths).

Well, see my rant about "goof" in the Filter thread. For me, yeah, it's as good s commercial synths Yes, sounds good. It will get a bit of refinement.ferez21 wrote: Sat May 01, 2021 9:56 amI gonna demo it but is Vital really as good as commercial synths?CrystalWizard wrote: Sat May 01, 2021 5:10 am How about Omnisphere?

Users pay for it. That's commerce right there.
The stigma of "free" mostly comes from hobby projects whose developers can't put in the time they would need to deliver a really polished product. For Matt Tytel, the developer of Vital, that is not a problem. He's made it his job, and it's financially successful to the point that he can talk about hiring additional developers.
He is also not the first successful developer to produce both freebies and paid products. U-he and Cherry Audio do the same thing, and their free products even use the same tech as their most expensive synths. Vital stands out a little more because the free tier is nearly as powerful as the paid tiers, but they're still differentiated by piles of extra content like presets and wavetables.
I hate signatures too.

Agree. More copy/paste functions between oscs would add even more workflow points to the "most fastest synth".Bartone wrote: Sat May 01, 2021 2:07 pm Vital can be CPU heavy. I hope you folks are in contact with kv331 and fls support. I'd be surprised if a fix took very long.
Good luck!

That's ironic, as SynthMaster One predates Hive 2 by a couple of years... perhaps you meant to say Hive 1.0?

Hive 2.0 (revision 8676)
https://soundbytesmag.net/synthmasteronefromkv331audio/
Synthmaster One is a new wavetable synth from KV331 Audio – it’s certainly worth a look if you’re a fan of KV331, and if you’re not a fan, you may become one.

Well you're right I just remembered Urs' comment. I thought it was in reference to Hive 2 but hell I can barely remember what I had for breakfast these days.

Were you feverishly googling that info for this long ?Urs wrote: Mon Jan 30, 2017 11:35 pmI take its layout as a compliment. No, actually I remembered Urs' comment. I just googled up supporting facts, because I'm not one to make a baseless unsupported claim...Teksonik wrote: Sat May 01, 2021 10:31 pm Well you're right I just remembered Urs' comment. Well my claim was based on faulty memories so I guess it was baseless. I hope you feel better now.

Apart from one gimmicky feature that a majority of users probably don't care about (and which is limited, not absent in the free version), the free version is identical in functionality to the most expensive paid version. The only difference is the included presets and wavetables. Lots of synths I own have optional sound content you can buy that I don't have, but I still consider myself to own the full synth. Same with Vital; it seems pretty strange to insist that it's not free just because there is add-on soundware content you can buy.
