Ahh, gotcha... I'll make a point to actually notice that properly next time I load B2Galbanum wrote:patches/presets should always load fast... but what I mean is that the first time you load the plug into a session should now be almost instant instead of several seconds as it was previously...taoyoyo wrote:

It's most noticeable in an editing host like Sound Forge or Wavelab where you have to close and reload the plug often... Here it makes a very big difference. In DAWs, it is noticeable only on the first load of the plug in the project. Additional instances already loaded instantly in previous versions. Now the first instance does too.

Cool. No problem if there is something--just if there is, we want to know what it is so we can improve it. We like feedback, and try to listen to it whenever possible...Sampleconstruct wrote:

Preset browser enhancements are about done... very cool... maybe we will give another beta with this done while we finish AAX, so you power users can start to organize your user presets with sub-folders etc as you like?

A customer on GS asked the following:
If anyone else is wondering the same thing, see the following for now:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/8792161-post386.html

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/8792161-post388.html
Additionally,
I then realized that the manual online is not the most recent one I updated back in the fall which has all this info...Andrew, what is Interpolation, and what's its relationship to Oversampling or Sound Quality?
Also, is there a difference between "Perfection" and "Obsession"?
Should I always render as high as possible, or is that unneeded at 44.1

Additionally,
When choosing what settings to use, perhaps it helpful for me to share what settings I use personally...
I am personally doing a solo piano album--neoclassical, minimalist, lyrical, and romantic stylistically... (a nice break from excessively technical things and a return to concentration on music, songwriting, and emotional story telling... after-all, I initially got into the technical side of things many years ago to improve my own productions, and it is nice to return to my own music sometimes...) I am mastering it myself this week.
For reverb I used B2 and Breeze. I started it before we had a B2, and in fact it may have been one of the things that lead to B2 b/c I initially used multiple instances of Breeze to achieve things like the dual engine behavior of B2.
Why no Aether? No reason in particular. It just worked out that way, as at the time I was also most likely trying to understand the preset landscape of our most recent products, and just was trying to accomplish to tasks at once: composition, and reverb testing and preset design.
For most songs I use a single B2 instance and I bounce at 4x OS using "perfection" interpolation mode.
For one or two I use 1x OS and "excellence" interpolation. Why? B/C I had already obsessively tweaked the preset to get the exact damping and EQ behavior that I wanted, so I did not want this to change during rendering...
For one or two I stuck with Breeze b/c I had composed/performed into this reverb using the given presets, and timing of everything just fit so well that I did not want to risk upsetting the balance I had achieved...
Presets for all 12 songs are different and all custom. Some lean in the "excessively wet and long" direction which gives a "new age-y" or film-score-esque feel, others are more intimate and in line with a more traditional classical recordings. Some are automated with regard to the wet/dry send level, most are not. I'm not a purest aesthetically--I have no formal classical training, or training of any kind actually, so I just did what sounded good to me...
I'll share some examples shortly...

New Preset Browser with "Packages" and unlimited folders:
http://www.2caudio.com/sitecontent/prod ... rowser.png
The left column is the Folder Browser. It shows Packages and Sub-Folders.
The following can be "Packages" for example:
Factory
Dual Engine
Single Engine
Special FX
User
Creativity Expansion
Integrity Expansion
Rad B2 Expansion One
Rad B2 Expansion 573
etc.
Packages contain one level of sub-folders. Sub-folders contain preset files. Selected sub-folders show their preset file contents in the "File Browser" area on the right.
So you can add your own folders to User. And/or you can make your own packages to share with the community if you make a ton of presets. We will make preset expansions also.
Scroll-bar for both the Folder and File Browser.
Any comments?

Another enhancement:
http://www.2caudio.com/sitecontent/prod ... wser_2.png
Keyword Search: this matched any of three keywords to the contents of the selected sub-folders. This makes searching presets very easy, and will be even more useful now that people can easily add and share their own preset folders and packages.
OK, I think browser enhancements are done for now. Now just AAX remains...

It should have already done both of these things.
But now you can have your own sub-folders in User, and you can even make the "aMUSEd eXpansIon pacK" with any number of sub-folders and share it with the community if you like...
Author info is entered on the Info page, and every time you save a preset it will tag the preset with your info.

Here's a weird one - after reading the gearslutz links, I decided to try running in oversampling mode (I always use 1x for playback and 4x for bouncing) to see how much CPU it took.
B2 doesn't make any sound on 2x, but plays back on 4x (albeit with pretty high CPU)
Aether doesn't make any sound on 2x or 4x! My project plays back - but makes no sound.
I'll play some more in the next few days to make sure I'm not doing something stupid - but has anyone seen this?
SONAR X2 (64 bit)
Windows 8 (64 bit)
Asus P8Z77-V
Intel i3770K (with plenty of CPU left while in the SONAR project)
16 GB RAM
