Those are definitely not inversions. An 3 note triad inversion is simply formed by changing the root (bottom note) of the chord. For example, a C chord triad is CEG, the first inversion is EGC, and the second inversion is GCE. It is no more complicated than that.

Yes that’s what I thought, so it sounds like it’s more the melodic inversion mentioned on wikipediacourtjestr wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 11:35 pm Those are definitely not inversions. Maybe chords are a bad test for this, I will run some lead lines through it tomorrow,A melody is inverted by flipping it "upside-down", reversing the melody's contour. For instance, if the original melody has a rising major third, then the inverted melody has a falling major third (or, especially in tonal music, perhaps a falling minor third).

Thanks you and all commenting on your post.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 8:41 pmMy music theory knowledge doesn't extend to how to build inversions, maybe someone on here can help? I thought it should only include the notes you input, but arranged in a different order on the keyboard, but I had some (mainly) C major scale chords input and it converted as below with different Global Algorithm preset values:-Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 6:07 pm ^^^
Interesting.
Glad you mentioned it.
Please give us a review even a very brief one if you have the time.
from
C / Em / C / Am / Bm / F / G / F
to
[MEL INVERT]
Cmaj9 / Em7 / C(no 5) / C6 add(m2) / Bm / F / G / F add(m3)
[RANDOM]
Cmaj9 / G6 / C(no 5) / A add(m3) / Bm / F / G / F add(m3)
[EVOLVER]
C / C7 add(7) / Cm add(b5) / A (no 5th) / Fdim7(b9) / F / G / F
Have no idea if that's right or not, but it was good enough to use as an arp over a pad from the original chords after I added a Scales and Keys to divert it all into C major again.
There does appear to be some randomisation the way it converted the same chords input into different chords output.
Will play around with it a bit more over the weekend to see if it's worth picking up.
My interest is with my limited chord knowledge if it is simple enough so that I can manage to make the output interesting and musical.

I already have that, but bought it before they added the melodic inverter to the suite. It’s really good value now.Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 8:25 pm If interested in Melodic Inverter for $29 consider the $45 bundle

But
On BF it may all change.

For those who haven't tried... chord potion or scaler > phrasebox is a ton of fun. You could even put a random single note generator in front of chord potion for a hands-off approach. I do wish there was a way to automate pattern changes with Phrasebox tho. That device has a ton of potential which hasn't yet been realized.

I missed buying some Reason Rack Players.
Went to buy today and most of the sales were gone.
Did Reason have a Charismas sale last year?
I have the Free Reason Rack lite but will consider Reason Intro if it is on sale for $50.

Nice.
I will wait for a major discount sale.
Why not email them to give an intro price to the members of this thread.

I’m a lousy haggler. Will wait for a sale or just pick it up with the next version of suite if the upgrade is reasonable
