Hi,

I am primarily a visual artist and new to the intersting world of free apps provided for bending sound. I am using VSTHost and doing OK twiddling dials and experimenting, but I have no background as musician or technician, so the results are unpredictable. Happily, with most of the apps I am getting results (I hear music or blips when I press a key or otherwise activate sound waves); however, with vocoder and pitch correction apps that are designed to work with a "taped" wave file input, I am flumoxed - I can listen to the wav file on the VSTHost player, but the sound modifying apps have no effect on the output at all. At http://www.goodlight.net/graphics/03/vsthost-voice.png (http://www.goodlight.net/graphics/03/vsthost-voice.png) you can see KeroVee Pitch Corrector (www.kvraudio.com/product/kerovee-by-g200kg) loaded in my VSTHost, but the setup failed to modify or "correct" any of the source sounds. There is no change at all either with KeroVee Pitch Corrector's presets or by changing settings while the sound file plays.

Could you take a look? Perhaps you can spot the problem or suggest some settings I should tweak.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

sorry but Im not familiar with VSTHost.
probably the KeroVee does not receive any audio input signal in this settings.

wav-file playback seems directly connected to VSTHost outputs.
can VSTHost assign file-playback as a audio-input?

Hi,

Is this good or bad?

I am not sure. Please see new frame grab at

Is this what you mean? Unfortunately, when I check "Add to Input" I can no longer hear the wav file playing.

Below are some instructions from the VSTHost documentation at www.hermannseib.com/documents/VSTHost.pdf (http://www.hermannseib.com/documents/VSTHost.pdf) -

Add to Input
This menu entry can be used to toggle the Wave Player's position. If it is checked, a played audio file is played in parallel to the audio engine's input so that you can run it through (chains of) loaded effects. If it is unchecked, a played audio file is played in parallel to the accumulated output of all
loaded PlugIns.

Audio Thru
This menu entry can be toggled to define whether VSTHost directly passes its Audio input to the output. If checked, the audio input is not only sent through eventually loaded PlugIns, but also directly
[page 59]
to the Wave Output device. In versions before V1.40, this was the default (and only) behavior; now, the default setting is Off to prevent audio feedback loops. Since V1.46, checking this item has the result that VSTHost automatically creates a link between the {In} and {Out} pseudo-PlugIns. Of course, you can set this by hand as well - this menu item might disappear in the next version, as it's not really necessary any more. Note: this setting is stored with the current performance, since it depends on the used PlugIns whether it makes sense.

VSTHost is available free - www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm). I am using version 1.52

I also have a free Psycle Modular Music Creation Studio installed, but cannot figure out how to import any VSTs.

Much thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it.

bad. wav-file playback should be connected to the inputs.

yes. :) should check the "Add to Input". in addition, you should route the signals to outputs through the KeroVee

I have tested and work normally.

Thanks very much for your time and effort. The picture you posted was just what this tech-challenged person needed. The Kerovee and other wav-related apps seem to be working. Now I can go back to daydreaming about what I might do with these devices.
I like your music as well. You are very talented.
Best wishes for a long, productive life,
Frank
