SpectraLayers 13 Pro

SpectraLayers Pro 13 is Steinberg's full-featured spectral audio editor, displaying audio as a spectrogram so tones, transients, and noise components can be selected, extracted, and processed as visual objects rather than waveform data. Version 13 adds Unmix Sound Effects, a process that separates short sounds from continuous ambient and environmental audio (wind, crowd noise, traffic, nature) while preserving the background texture on its own layer, and Ambience Heal, which automatically fills the spectral gaps left by unmixing or cut-to operations using the room tone already present in a recording. A new Reconstruct module resynthesizes selected spectral data, tracking before/after selections to rebuild tones and above/below selections to rebuild transients and noise.

It runs as a standalone application or via ARA 2 inside Cubase, Nuendo, and other ARA 2-compatible DAWs, with a Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge plug-in for round-trip editing. It is built for post-production engineers doing dialogue cleanup and audio restoration, music producers unmixing finished tracks into stems, and sound designers isolating or reconstructing individual sound components. Pro is the only SpectraLayers 13 edition carrying the new Unmix Two Voices, Voice DeCrosstalk, and Voice DeClick modules, plus the automatically updating Level Check loudness module.

Pro is distinguished from the Elements edition by its 384 kHz maximum sample rate and up to 16 channels (Elements is capped at 96 kHz and stereo), and by its full set of AI-assisted unmixing and reconstruction modules. Both editions share the version 13 workflow updates: batch processing across multiple open projects, an expanded Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge, and support for audio devices mapped beyond 128 channels.

Features

  • Unmix Sound Effects: separates short sounds from continuous ambient and background audio onto their own layer.
  • Ambience Heal: fills spectral gaps left by unmix or cut-to operations using existing room tone.
  • Reconstruct module: resynthesizes tones, transients, and noise from before/after and above/below spectral selections.
  • Unmix Two Voices: separates two speakers without registering voice profiles.
  • Voice DeCrosstalk: isolates overlapping background or foreground voices from the primary voice.
  • Voice DeClick: removes mouth noise such as lip smacks and tongue clicks.
  • Level Check: automatically updating True Peak and LU loudness measurements on selections and layer combinations.
  • Attenuate: reduces relative high-amplitude content within a selection based on surrounding spectral power.
  • Fade: fade in, fade out, or crossfade between layers with four fade types.
  • Improved DeNoise: noiseprint-based noise reduction with added precision and spectral smoothness controls.
  • Improved Unmix Components: more accurate detection and separation of tones, transients, and noise.
  • Paste Into Selection and Paste Insert tools; corner-based handle for simultaneous time/frequency selection resizing.
  • Time Fade and Frequency Fade sliders usable on active selections.
  • Batch Process Open Projects: batch processing across multiple open projects simultaneously.
  • Improved Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge plug-in: round-trip editing of multiple clips, with Dolby Atmos (up to 9.1.6) and Ambisonics support.
  • Audio device support beyond 128 mapped channels.
  • Additional export frame rates for the Unmix Transcription module.
  • Up to 384 kHz sample rate, 16 channels, and unlimited layers.

Amazing product. Everything I was expecting and much more. There are so many applications for this from disecting and analyzing tracks to effecting minor and major repairs. It take a lot of the fear out of tracking when you know that the perfect take even if marred by something unexpected and unwanted can be seamlessly fixed.
