Bunker Samples has released Bunker Perc, a percussion library made from the sounds of a WWII bomb shelter bunker in Copenhagen, Denmark. Here's what they say:
After the cold war the city began renting out its network of underground bunkers, and many musicians turned them into recording studio. This is where Bunker Strings was developed and recorded, in a concrete dome under a meter of dirt. Sadly this particular bunker, after which the company is named, is no longer available as a recording studio, but bunker samples managed to capture the sonic DNA of it before leaving; the sounds of big metal blast doors being slammed and struck with mallets, locks clicking and big metal handles dropping into place. The result is a percussion library that offers a refreshing alternative to traditional drum libraries.
To get the most out of the sounds, a new Kontakt percussion engine was developed, which lets the user manipulate each sound in the library individually. The positioning grid makes it easy to position each sound in a room space, making to create front-to-back depth and panning. Two velocity controlled filters add dynamic realism to the sound, while tuning, width and a 3 band EQ lets the user change the sound in subtle or extreme ways. The punch control can add transient emphasis, while the tube compressor ads analog saturation and compression.
The reverse patches makes it easy to create transitions into a hit. The reverse sound is played when a key is pressed, while the corresponding hit is played when the key is released. The reverse and hit can be edited together or individually, making it easy to create a wide range of transition effects.
The library contains 21 original, unprocessed sounds, and 62 sound designed hits, divided into low booms, impacts, as well as low, mid and high hits. WAV files of all the samples are included as well.
The library is a 825MB download and requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 6.7.1 or later.
Intro Price: $29 until June 23rd, 2023 (Reg. $49).
