MIDI Association seeks entries in MIDI Innovation Awards 2022

The MIDI Association

We'd like to invite you to submit a product for the 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards.

The MIDI Innovation awards give a platform to MIDI innovation. This enables winners to accelerate their product ideas through connections to the industry, as well as increase their visibility among musicians and the NAMM community of trade professionals.

The MIDI Innovation Awards rewards products, prototypes, installations or concepts that are thought-provoking and inspire new, creative use cases.

The first prizes in the non-commercial categories are valued at more than $10,000, and include passes to the June 2022 NAMM show, an exhibition booth at the 2023 NAMM Show, as well as significant support from the MIDI Association and Music Hackspace for the development of MIDI 2.0 prototypes.

The MIDI Innovation awards are open to individuals, artists, and companies who work with MIDI to build innovative products or interactive experiences.

The 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards are in 5 categories:

  1. Commercial Hardware Products.
  2. Commercial Software Products.
  3. Prototypes and non-commercial hardware products.
  4. Prototypes and non-commercial software products.
  5. Artistic/Visual Project or Installation.

The intent of the Categories is to make the competition fair by distinguishing products made by established commercial companies/teams from DIY, Open Source, and non-commercial products from companies, small teams or individuals with total revenue or funding < $250K.

The categories encourage larger MIDI companies to enter the commercial awards while still keeping the spirit of innovation by supporting a wider base of developers.

The only other requirement is that the entries must have been released or received a major innovative update after January 28, 2021 (the date of the first MIDI Innovation Awards).

The MIDI Innovation Awards 2022 welcomes entries from, but are not limited to: MIDI instruments, controllers, software, art installation, MIDI peripherals, I/O boxes, lighting systems, automated systems and more.

You can find details about the MIDI Innovation Awards and a link to the submission form in this article on MIDI.org.

We are very excited about the MIDI Innovation Awards and hope that you will participate by submitting a product as soon as possible.

Thanks and best of luck in the MIDI Innovation Awards 2022.

Your Friends at The MIDI Association.
