Ikutaro Kakehashi

We are sad to report that Roland founder and music products visionary Ikutaro Kakehashi has passed away. He was one of the most influential forces within our industry, respected and admired by all who knew him. In fact the term "visionary" is an understatement when applied to this man who made such an impact on musicians.

Here is a nice tribute from Midi.org.

And here is our interview with Mr K done a short while ago.

RIP Taro. Thank you so much for everything...

What a huge gift Ikutaro Kakehashi's work is! This man has helped define countless genres from live music to electronic and hip hop with his company's iconic synthesizers, drum machines, effects, samplers, the list goes on.

"Technologies are creating previously undreamed-of avenues of expression in many different fields," This will remain future of electronic instruments. RIP Ikutaro thank you and God Bless.

This is sad news. However, this man's professional life appears to be quite something to celebrate. Very few of us end up making such contributions to our civilization. Aside from whatever personal life facets we know nothing about, hopefully his lifelong accomplishments are some comfort to the people who knew him.
