Spectrasonics Stylus RMX unveiled

-
Spectrasonics

Spectrasonics gave an exciting sneak preview of their upcoming Stylus RMX Real time Groove Module, a brand new virtual instrument to be released later this year, which vastly expands on the company's best selling Stylus virtual instrument. The Stylus RMX plug-in is being developed by Spectrasonics new in-house software development team, and is the first product to use the company's powerful new S.A.G.E. (Spectrasonics Advanced Groove Engine) technology (See below). Stylus RMX will have dozens of innovative new features, a completely redesigned interface, a new core library and a strong focus on real-time manipulation.

The new core-library in Stylus RMX will have thousands of cutting-edge grooves and sounds that were created by Spectrasonics international sound design team, and produced by Eric Persing. The Stylus RMX core library will contain more than double the amount of sounds originally offered in Stylus, and contains all the original material as well. The new sounds and grooves in Stylus RMX substantially broaden the musical range of the original Stylus sounds to many new genres. Mixes are frequently broken down into individual tracks for flexibility and infinite combinations. Also new in Stylus RMX are hundreds of kits, as well as user kit construction. Users can create their own customized groove libraries, save them into the plug-in, and even share them with other Stylus RMX users on different platforms and hosts.

The release date for Stylus RMX is set for September 2004. The US suggested retail price will be $299, while the European price is set at 249 Euros.

An upgrade program for existing Stylus users will also be part of Spectrasonics launch of Stylus RMX. The upgrade policy will be the same in all regions of the International market and will be offered directly through Spectrasonics. Current registered Stylus users will be able to upgrade to Stylus RMX for $99. New Stylus users who registered Stylus for the first time after January 1st, 2004, are automatically eligible for a FREE upgrade from Stylus to Stylus RMX. All registered Stylus users will be notified directly via email when the upgrade is available in September.

Stylus RMX will operate as a native plug-in instrument in hosts including Logic, Digital Performer, Cubase, Nuendo, Pro Tools, Sonar, and many others. Stylus RMX will ship on DVD-ROM format, offering simplified installation.

Stylus RMX Highlights:

  • New S.A.G.E. technology! (Spectrasonics Advanced Groove Engine).
  • More than double the sounds of the original Stylus.
  • Thousands of grooves and hundreds of kits.

Stylus RMX will be compatible with Mac OS X and Windows platforms. Plug-in formats supported will include Audio Units, VST, and RTAS.

What is S.A.G.E?

S.A.G.E. "Spectrasonics Advanced Groove Engine" is an underlying core technology that allows extensive real-time control, creation and manipulation of grooves while retaining state-of-the-art sound quality. The addition of its own powerful software technology marks a new milestone for the company as a full-fledged software developer. S.A.G.E. technology will be used in many new products from Spectrasonics in the future.

All S.A.G.E. powered virtual instruments, such as Stylus RMX, also have truly unlimited expansion potential. Every S.A.G.E. powered instrument will be fully compatible with all Groove Control sample libraries, offering an easy way to vastly expand the instrument with inspiring new sounds and grooves. S.A.G.E. powered instruments are also fully compatible with Propellerheads REX1 and REX2 files, which opens the potential to integrate a users own audio loops through Propellerheads ReCycle application.
