The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of Vienna Smart Orchestra, a complete and powerful, yet resource-saving package.
The new library product offers a large orchestra and additional organic FX textures, mapped over the entire range of the keyboard. It comes with the new Vienna Synchron Player that lets users play all the main sections of the orchestra together or separately, with the possibility to add selected solo instruments. A convolution reverb, featuring the acoustics of Synchron Stage Vienna, is integrated in the player's multi-channel mixer, resulting in a perfectly balanced sound right out of the box.
Large Orchestrations on the Fly
The Vienna Smart Orchestra is billed as "the perfect all-in-one tool for sketching symphonic ideas, delivering scores on deadlines, or playing live on stage". It provides a large, 140 piece orchestra with full dynamics, ready to play over the entire range of the keyboard. Users may create large orchestrations on the fly, without worrying about balancing and fine-tuning the instrumentation.
The main sections of the orchestra – strings, woodwinds, brass, mallets, drums and percussion – can be played separately or all together at once, with access to the multi-channel mixer to adjust the levels of each ensemble. In addition, selected solo instruments, such as flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, trumpet or an ensemble of violins can be added over the accompanying orchestra played with the left hand. Customized layers such as subtle pianissimo string pads or fortissimo brass break-outs make it easy to find the right tone in a split second. The "marcato control" feature enables users to play everything from smooth legato lines to aggressive ostinatos in just one patch by simply moving a pre-configured fader. Last but not least, the included FX presets are a great source of inspiration and a treasure trove for creating all-new, hybrid soundscapes and organic textures.

The resource-saving package provides perfectly balanced sonic results at any time right out of the box. The Vienna Synchron Player's integrated multi-channel mixer offers a host of FX plug-ins, including a convolution reverb that features the acoustics of the company's refurbished Synchron Stage Vienna as well as an algorithmic reverb. A host of presets delivers ready-to-play set-ups for traditional orchestral applications as well as for experimental soundscapes.
