SQ8ROM is a sampled version of SQ8L, a VST plugin based on the sound and synthesizer architecture of the Ensoniq SQ80. The Ensoniq SQ80 was a 1988 synthesizer based on a wavetable with an analog filter to generate its sound, something common in the 80s. The result is lo-fi and charming.
SQ8ROM comes with 168 sounds, perfect for 80s music productions! SQ8ROM is a must-have if you produce synthwave, synthpop, vaporwave, and any other 80s influenced genres.

Great selection of classic 80s sounds. Very easy to use, the parameters can be automated and the ADSR is effective (not always not with other similar plugins). Obviously, you have to be into these types of sounds and play with them across the whole keyboard. Otherwise, you run the risk of thinking they all sound the same. The LFO can be used to add movement to the sound, radically changing them in a very easy and fast way. You can also use your mod wheel to adjust the LFO effect live, which is really useful when recording live performances. Overall, a really nice plugin, plus you can't complain about the price.
Read ReviewI think it's a matter of taste and this is not my cup of tea. three of four nice sound, the rest is boring and uninspiring. Really, testing all the 168 sounds has been a pain. You can do the same sounds that this rompler does with a native/free synth using way less hard disk space.
