Crystal XT is a full featured semi-modular synthesizer, ideally suited to creating lush evolving soundscapes. Crystal VST has long been a popular synthesizer on the desktop, and Crystal XT brings that same powerful synthesis engine to the iPad and iPhone platforms.
Crystal XT comes packaged with a rich variety of evolving, rhythmic and melodic presets. Notes can be played from the onscreen virtual keypad or via a MIDI keyboard connected using the iPad's camera adapter. Endless new sounds can be created by "breeding" two presets.
On the iPad, Crystal XT includes extensive editing capabilities, featuring both subtractive synthesis and frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. It offers abundant modulation control (over 90 parameters can be modulated), graphical editing of multi-stage envelopes, extensive tempo sync of envelopes, LFO rates and delay times, built-in effects for chorus/flanging/comb filtering/echoes, and a band splitter for effects processing by frequency band. Additionally, Crystal XT offers wave sequencing and granular synthesis. The musical applications for Crystal XT are literally boundless.
Crystal XT offers patch sharing between the iPad/iPhone and desktop Crystal. Sounds can be created while away from the studio, then transferred to the desktop for recording projects. Alternatively, banks of sounds can be created on the desktop and then transferred to Crystal XT for use in a live performance for a truly portable rig.

This is as good as its VST counterpart., i like the enhanced UI. especially the keyboard/touch pad, my only quip is that the ipad version is prone to occasional bouts of audio clipping.
having said that, the fact that ones handwork can be done on the go then exported to ones computer for further work within say, ones studio environment is useful here as this will allow further refinement. and definitely will make the workflow more fluid.
(as an aside, rather worryingly is the greenoak site is down as of this review)
Read ReviewSeems to be working fine as of now..
and thanks for reminding me about this vst.. it's a good one...
