The Full Bucket Brigade Delay is a VST 2.4 software effect for Microsoft Windows (both 32 and 64-bit) simulating the functionality and sound of classic analog delays. It is written in native C++ code for high performance and extremely low CPU consumption. The main features are:

  • Authentic simulation of a Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) delay line.
  • No "crackling" or "dropouts" when changing the delay time.
  • LFO modulation for Flanger, Chorus, or other modulation effects.
  • Double precision audio processing.
  • Quality control to send your hi-fi signals to hell.
  • Plug-in comes in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
  • Fully compatible with SM Pro Audio's V-Machine.

Gosh, why another delay plug-in?

The Full Bucket Brigade Delay is an offspring of the tiny delay within my Nabla synthesizer. Just for fun I separated it into its own C++ project, added a few things like the LFO and the Quality control, always trying to achieve the functionality and sound of those old BBD units that I love so much. Now I sat here with a new plug-in. And decided to share it:-)

Thanks. I think it's pretty good.

Make a one with many controls.

Tempo sync. Not only delay time but LFO too.

LP HP.

LFO shapes.Cuz why not.

Also I think it might be fine to have down to 0 time to have controlled flanger effects.

LFO speed why not up to 100hz?

2 blocks instead one. One for L second for R. And link option.

Ping pong with stereo separation.

Also why the time affects the way the output has high frequencies or something? Is it the way those older stuff worked?

Also noticed that on minimum times it makes like boosting some highs. I don;t know. Maybe a feedback never at 0 or?

Also I wonder why the chorusing effect is so differnt on different range options (with same time set). Maybe would be good to have knob for ranges? And also separate Range option for L R channel would give great stereo effect.

P.S.

Awesome little delay with potential to have pretty powerful edition with things I mention above and more that could be.

Also the depth could be non linear. Or make something to be able to add smaller values. The 1 % can be already too much in many situations. Same with the mix parametr.

OK, let me think about it...

Hi arseniy2, .

thanks for your comments.

I understand your wish for the suggested extensions. However, the aim of the Full Bucket Brigade Delay is not to compete with those feature-laden delay plug-ins roaming the VST universe ;-) but to provide an emulation of those old crappy devices from the past with all their simplicity and usability.

And yeah, this is the way the old boxes work. For example, a zero delay time e.g. for Through-Zero-Flanging is simply not possible since the signal always has to travel through at least a part of the bucket brigade delay line.

In fact my suggestion really is: Do not primarily use the Full Bucket Brigade Delay as a delay but as a lo-fi chaos effect! Turn Feedback to 100%, twiddle all the knobs (especially Time and Quality), and have fun. :-)

Cheers, Björn.

Ha! Yeah I heard some of your music and you are into that retro stuff. But would be cool if you consider adding more modern thingies into your production as it has that potential! :)

P.S.

Do you have that chorus separately you used in the Qyooo? It has similar sound as this delay too. If not, consider to make as separate chorus effect.

P.P.S.

And why wouldn't anyone use this as a delay for some of the instruments? Different sounding delays on different channels is good thing and makes better separation between instruments.

Regards.

Arseniy.

Very good delay! Exactly what I needed.

The only thing I could desire is adding more range to the Time parameter. Up to 1500-2000, probably.
